Waterman 3V on Rhodia cream with Aurora blue.

Thanks for taking time out from swatting mosquitos to show us some pretty cool pens!

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

Can imagine you enjoy the PR Ebony purple. With a nib that broad, you can clearly see the purple in it. When I tested them side by side with a finer nib, the PR looked like an 'interesting black', but I couldn't tell any purple. The Diamine with my pen looks a lot like the PR with your pen :)

Wow, David, I can see why the Kynosura is one of your favourite pens. Look at how you make it dance . . . :puddle:

OOphoto - Mmm a brace of VHSs and your writing is always a joy to behold.

amberleadavis - Loving that thin thin paper.

I decided to try Blackletter style writing. It.Is.Hard. I'm used to cursive that flows where ever it wants to. Black letter is just a series of repeating shapes. Very rigid shapes. My brain refuses to accept this HAHAAAHAHAHA.

I'm afraid something ominous has happened to my friend the fox.

This temperamental little sucker of a nib has always given me start-up and nib dry-out problems, that is until what ever ink is in the pen now. It's almost out of ink and it would be nice to refill it with the same ink it obviously likes.

Parker 45 with factory stub nib.

OO, nice job on the Black Letter. That looks so good. I've pretty much given up on italic because I keep reverting back to cursive.

Edit...figured it out. Waterman Violet from the '80s... The bottle still has the $3.50 price stamp.

The paper is not too good, too absorbent, but I am so glad I found FPN. To the point that I thought that photography was my hobby and passion. Now I think it is PENS and sketching!.

Up there before my post... I would never think that old ink would work, it would be degraded with particles and/or separetion, granules, dry, etc... Is it a fact that older inks still work? By the sample it looks that 1980 works fine! Did you have it since that date or did you buy it as is? (Intrigued)

Finalist, amazing artwork. So much detail to take in and the blend of color..oh my. And what an imagination.

Lamyrada, LOL, I too went from a photography hobby to fountain pens. I used to eat, sleep and dream photography and now I just take snapshots of the cats and the occasional pen and ink contribution. These days I crave pens and ink.

Aside from the Violet I also have Waterman Green, Scrip Green and Pelikan Royal Blue from around the same time. All in good shape and used with no problems.

Tanzanite, do you actually get to use all those pens at work? I'm lucky if I get to use one of mine once in a while.

Love all the sketches posted. There is so much talent on this site.

They don't all work, but many do. There is a risk of "STIB" (aka mold or bacterial growth) you need to watch out for. Read Pendemonium's advice about using old ink.

I do not use them all in one day but I like to bring 6 to 8 fountain pens to work every day so that I can chose the one that I prefer for the moment. I love colours and use the ink that makes me happy. Some days I write a lot and some days I only use the computer.

So, I was almost out of Fuyu-Gaki and needed to use up the last of the ink. Here was the doodle.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).
