I also still cannot believe how smooth and beautiful the Carene is.

It was the second pen I ever wanted... And after 4 years of not getting it... It's mine!

And here is what it looks like with it's most recent wash.

That looks so good. What's the process you're using? Is that a sheet of paper that you've just been washing with water over and over?

Finally finished building my light box (though not done setting up the lights), so I took a picture of my new Waterman Hundred Year Pen. I'm more knowledgable about the HR models, but I believe this is an early Lucite model made before they switched the body material back to celluloid. I have a matching Lucite Waterman Commando that's the exact same color.

Wow! Still more incredible pictures. Love all of the amazing writing.

I went to the Triangle Pen Show in Raleigh, NC yesterday and had a really good time. It was the first pen show I have been to since the Detroit Pen Show back in 1998. Saw a huge number of really nice pens, got to meet some of the top people, got some great ideas and did a few trades. It makes a huge difference to see this many pens all in one place. Good thing I didn't have any money. I really got a sense of which pens I really like, and which ones I don't really care for. Highly recommended for anyone to get to a show if it is at all possible. If I hit the lottery before then, I would show up at the DC show with a briefcase of neatly stacked bills. That one is going to be Epic.

The one I'm spending today figuring out.

I traded away a couple of pens to get this beauty. It's smooth as anything. I'm sure I got the lesser end of the bargain from a purely monetary standpoint, but I'm enjoying this, and will continue to enjoy this, way past what the monetary value is. So, I'm fine with it.

Parker 51, factory stub, probably a medium or a really fat fine. I don't have the measurement capabilities to get to tenths-of-a-millimeter

Still learning to write with these.

Great score. I have a P51 with a fat nib, and it's one of the best writers in my collection. Enjoy! --h

Today's writing is brought to me by this Esterbrook SJ with a really smooth feeling 9668 nib:

I just entered into that contest as well! Your entry is beautiful though! I really love that bird and you have lovely handwriting.

I picked this up for cheap and cleaned all the parts, replaced the sac and shellacked. It's well used, but it still works very well. The tipping on the nib doesn't look like the best, but wow is it smooth for a fine line. It's close to my TWSBI EF in line thickness, but definitely smoother with a hair of softness on downstrokes. The previous owner must have written a lot with it and really smoothed it out.

Anyone know the model name of this Wearever?

  • About 5.25" capped.
  • About 4.6" uncapped.
  • Ink window in the section
  • lever filled.
  • Nib text, "STAINLESS 14K GOLD PLATED"

There are so many amazing pictures in this thread, I am super happy whenever I scroll around in here. :D

AAAndrew - that nib on your 51 is amazing!

This is probably late, but about that Pelikan m200 of amberleadavis'? I think it is the little LITTLE brother/sister of the Blue Ocean, a LE released in 2007 (I think). It was an m800 size pen. They also made a limited run of an m600 size, and I have a set (ballpoint and FP) of that size, that people generally nicknamed "Baby Blue Ocean". These little 200 sized ones are great, and I have two - one I use ALL the time, and one that sits in the box as a back up. Good thing too, since I just noticed a crack in the cap of my user one!

I call them Baby BABY Blue Ocean. :) I think they originally sold with a steel nib, but this one came with a 14K F.

NICE COLLECTION! :D

It's been grey and rainy here the past few days so I pulled this out, making a close match of pen, ink, sky and mood:

I've just received my second hand Caran d'Ache Varius Metwood. As I don't like the ink it's filled with (should be a standard bue ...) I'm going to fill it with Iroshizuku Ama Iro to try his F nib .... Gogogo ..... I really like those swiss pens (It's my 4th one as I already have the Leman Ebony, the Ecridor 555 et the Ecridor Retro )
