Pankaj,

I'm retaking a picture or two. Look back here for the updates.

Well, four photos later, it just won't come out clear. Sorry it's fuzzy.

Check out the review. I've put up lots of pictures. This stuff is AWESOME.

It's really a blue black, but when too wet, it oxidizes.

Ok, there's a pen in there, so I guess I can post this here :)

Yesterday I received my Midori Travelers notebook (passport size). I was looking for something refillable that could hold multiple inserts (1 for work/quick notes and 1 for my personal journal), and would still be pocketable (I pretty much live in cargo pants, so pocket space is always available). My wife recently bought a regular size travelers notebook replica and got a passport sized one as a mothersday present, the passport size looked like it'd suit my needs, so I ordered one for myself as well. But I went with the original instead of a replica, just because I was curious about the differences.

To personalize it, I dressed it up with a cross-drilled titanium tube that contains a tritium vial. Tritium vials are a permanent source of light. A bit like glow in the dark, but without the need to charge it under a separate light source first. It's simply a sealed glass vial which is coated with phosphor onthe inside and filled with a mildly radioactive gas. The radiation is strong enough to make the phosphor glow, but not strong enough to penetrate the glass vial.

I put in the Midori card/zipperfile to have a place to store bits 'n bobs like tickets and receipts etc. Then there's the inserts, I wanted 2 of them and to ensure fountain pen compatibility, I chose to use a lined Clairefontaine 120x75mm notebook for my journal insert and a Rhodia grid notebook of the same size for general notes and work stuff. As these are 9mm less wide than the original Midori inserts, there's a little extra space inside the cover. Space just big enough for my TWSBI Diamond Mini.

To keep my TWSBI in place, I made a homebrew ducttape insert. It's made of 2 thin, flexible sheets of plastic, stuck together with ducttape. I then covered the whole thing in ducttape to give it a more uniform look. Next, I added a small slip pocket, also made out of ducttape, to store small flat items, like business cards or loose pieces of paper. And as the whole idea for the custom insert was to hold a pen, I stuck on a Leuchtturm1917 pen loop as well.

So far, I really like my little notebook :)

Coop: Have you ever watched the Red Green show on public television?

Amberlea: I think if your experience with powdered ink was this much fun for you, and resulted in this masterpiece, I would be afraid to face you in court if you had all your pens inked up and in your possession!

Doesn't sound like something I'd like to drop accidentaly :)

Doesn't sound like you can just choose between 14 colours at your local Appie either. Where do they sell that kind of stuff?

Coop: It's a show from Canada about a men's lodge/fraternity and the main character is always using duct tape "the handyman's best friend" to repair and create all sorts of imaginative things. Sunroofs on cars, automated beverage dispensers, etc. Your use is very upscale from his normal "projects" and great looking!
