Let me guess, your real name is Elly Lee? :roflmho: Direct translation from the pronounciation of your Chinese name!

Haha, it's a long story, but the short answer is no.

Here's the long-winded version of it, though: (can't leave you hanging, now can I?)

Interestingly enough, for a Chinese child, I received my Western name first (I say Western, because it's actually French). My French godfather named me Helene (with accents, which I have since dropped). My parents then developed/made whatever you want to call it, my Chinese name, 李艾灵. Notice how it is different to what I have on the stamp...

This was the name that I had for the first year or so of my life. After that, I began to talk, and apparently, refused to call myself by that name. I would (allegedly) point to myself and say "ai lei" instead, and no matter what my parents did, refused to change the way I said it. My parents, open-minded as they are, caved in, and changed my name to 李艾蕾.

So there you have it, I basically named myself as a one year old, and my parents just went along with it. That's why my Chinese and English(French) name are different. Not that it really matters, since my Chinese name isn't even on my passport or anything else. Sometimes, older relatives still call me by my old Chinese name when they forget. My dad also uses it when he gets very angry and forgets as well.

The two Chinese translations: Go with the first one, which is more lady-like!

Sadly, no, I haven't studied Chinese in nearly 3 years, since the end of high school.

我只不过是自己喜欢读武侠小说,所以会读一点,写一点而已. 我很久也没有读武侠小说了, 因为我最近都不怎么有时间去读.

It's best if I don't make you read the scrawl that is my Chinese handwriting, I think. :headsmack:

I wish there was an equivalent thread, but for ugly handwriting. I'm too ashamed to post mine in here!

Seriously, there all look insanely lovely. I've used fountain pens my whole life, and I don't write half as nice as the average in this thread. It's a sight for sore eyes :-)

I'm not affiliated with ANY of the brands/retailers/shops/ebay sellers/whatever I mention or recommend. If that ever changes, I will let you know :)

Looking for a cheap Pilot VP/Capless - willing to put up with lots of cosmetic damage.
