Forgot to mention it's a 'fine' nib. And it's a pitty the parquet doesn't show...

Joy! Rapture! Just got a new acquisition today in the mail: The Waterman "Commando." I didn't know much about this model, but according to RichardsPens, it was only produced during the 2nd World War (1941-1946). So for a pen that could be around 70 years old, it's magnificent!

This is my desk blotter. It's going to be going to a fellow FPNer. I'm showing pictures along the way. The blue is Midway Violet. The sun is Pilot Iro Fuyu-Gaki and Toucan Orange. The Tree trunk is the two oranges from the sun and CdA Grand Canyon.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

The Commando is one of my favorite pens Waterman made. The nibs, the style, I am thinking I may go commando today! :lticaptd:

Just got this one earlier this week. I was supposed to be NOS, but clearly had been inked. Still, given how hard they are becoming to find, I am happy with the condition.

Now I have the Visconti celluoid in red, blue, and green. Still need the silver/platinum/gray color.

Pilot Metropolitan with Noodler's Heart of Darkness. I've been switching between it and the pen that came with the ink (which is surprisingly nice, given the price). Now with 100% less malware.

Sorry for the poor penmanship and icky cell phone photo.

Congrats with the pen.

And what a nice handwriting!

And how could I ever have missed this ink?

Amberlea, I was laughing about two things - first, the thought of being in Minnesota and have that called "back east", though I certainly understand how that could be; and second, the "Owner of an Ugly Pen" diddy you came up with, to the tune of the Yes classic (I have the cassette tape version of the 90125 album, but nothing to play it on). Great stuff!

I posted on a different thread about this pen:

Nice looking pens. Visconty has come out with good celluloid pens. Longish but well balanced. Good nibs. My favorite too. congrats. The only thing discomforting about them is the 'double reserve filling system ' . I thing life need not be that complicated :)

The pen has an M nib that writes rather like an F

You might try Levenger's "Forest" ink, which looks like the kind of dark green you like. The only issue is that the particular bottle of Forest that I have has been dry for me, and in a pen that writes so fine might have trouble with it. I'm sure others can recommend other deep green inks... Pretty pen, and lovely handwriting!
