Uncle Red, The nib onthe Morton is approaching a wet noodle, almost too soft for business work, but LOTS of fun to play with... on this particular pen I find when inked it must keep cap up or the ink bleeds out into the cap... any ideas on what to fix I am all ears as I love the set...

Got my first "flex" pens in the mail today! They really add serious oomph to my otherwise average script! :yikes: I'm so excited about this new hobby. I'm really impressed with the folks at gouletpens.com. I've got a bottle of J. Herbin Lie de Thé and Diamine Oxblood coming in the mail, along with various samples of green. I can't wait to get my hands on my first vintage flex pen. SO IT BEGINS!

Wow, that is sharp. Is there a slot maybe about the size to fit an iPad Mini as well?

Don't know, I try to stay away from Apple products as far as possible nowadays.

<Apple fans incompatible mode>

One of my other hobbies is music & (portable) audio gear. I own 1 Apple product, an iPod Classic. I paid over €200 for it, it sounded like <insert vulgar word of choice here> and I was forced to install iTunes to be able to use it. iTunes then messed up my entire (over 300GB) music collection. 2 Months of manual labor and a uninstall of iTunes later I had my music collection back in order, but couldn't use the iPod because I didn't have iTunes. I upgraded the iPod with alternative firmware, now I was able to manage it as a mass storage device. The alternative firmware also gave me more control over the sound as well, but you can't really polish a turd. I had quite a bit of money and a lot of time invested in this thing and was still very unhappy with it. Then hardware started to fail, harddrive died, screen developed dead pixels, Apple refused to repair under warranty, even though I purchased extended warranty from them.

I spent more than €200 on repairs and hardware modifications to make it usable again and get the soundquality to an acceptable level. I got it there... Barely...

Then I wanted something more compact to use at the gym. I bought a €30 Sansa Clip+, it was small, light, cheap, more durable (no sensitive harddrive) and offered expandable memory. And most important, it sounded better than my iPod (not to say that it completely blew it away) that had by now cost more than 13 times as much.

The iPod disappeared into a drawer and hasn't been used since. For my work I've been in contact with Apple products a lot (I'm in mobile telecoms), but not a single generation of iPhone, iPad or iBook has been able to change my impression of the brand and it's products. Sure, their stuff looks pretty and if you have only Apple products and don't mind handing over control over your files and such to Apple it really "just works". But it is still mediocre hardware at a premium price, good enough for most, if you like paying for form rather than function, but I'm a bit more demanding than that. I'm a developer, I choose function over form and having control is key to me therefore I am not Apple compatible.

I guess, to me, Apple products are a bit like a 24K gold ballpoint pen, you get the looks, but in the end it's still no fountain pen and you can only use 1 type of proprietary refill...

But to get back on topic: Just drop the guys over at Greenroom 136 a message via email or on facebook. They usually are quite quick to respond.

Funny to see the Akkermans inks pop up quite a few times in this thread. All colours are named after locations in the dutch city of the Hague. The city where the Akkermans shop is located.

I've worked in the Hague for a few years, so I know most of the places the inks were named after :)

As a sharp wit and powerful sarcasm is a sign that you already have.

I believe Richard starts with the medium; the result is the 0.6mm stub.

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

I was digging around the sample room looking for an old pen case or something to hold these new fountain pens. I found an interesting one sent to us years ago from a pen vendor with slots for 18 pens. They sent it filled with their various ball point pens designed for imprint. Now, I got a ways to go to fill this thing up.
