My mystery Waterman's, a frustrating dry starter picked up at a local antique store, is finally flowing well- after repeated flutings and soakings. In fact, after about two months without use, it started up pretty much right away and has been fine for days of regular use.

I have one similar to this, but it's a screw on cap, and a lever filler, where is yours made? I cannot read the inscription.

Moylek, You've got another weird Waterman, ugh.

Could we see the nib and the filler?

Tas, I asked because there is a character who uses a Parker 45 Flighter.

My two newest additions - a Pilot Kakuno fine nib and a pink limited edition Lamy Safari with a fine nib.

I really like Lamy fine nib even more than the medium I started out with. I actually like Lamy blue black in the fine nib. I find it is less gray when using the fine nib pen as opposed to the medium nib Safari.

What's the word for nib envy?

Amberlea - you say you've had no joy getting Shocking Blue to show you it's red sheen, but the sample you sent me went electric out of my #14 Waterman wet noodle. Legal synopsis: sheen = vintage flexible nibs.

My guess is a Waterman Conquest

I googled Waterman Conquest - but all of the examples I found were lever fillers. That search led me to "Ravens March Fountain Pens", where I found a great index of Waterman's models ... and, lo! What do I find but this exact pen! I've never seen another like it.

It's on this page, and is labeled "Mystery Waterman #0240" :|

Btw, how much ink does the Valiant Touchdown hold? Mine did run out of ink quite fast, while in other pens that I inked at the same time, ink remains and I have written a lot more with some of them. Weird.

Moylek: I hope you emailed Ravens March and told them about your pen. I also vote that it should be officially named the Waterman Mystery.
