Thanks Uncle Red.

Those R&Ks are only £3.99 a bottle of 50ml here in the UK and the ones I own behave and shade like ink four times the price.

I love them.

(They mix really well too if you ever need to play)

What was that in your glass? - Mmmm . . .

For the weekend:

fpn_1394278518__2014-03-08-pens.jpg

Pelikan M200 Demonstrator with Richard Binder stub and Pelikan Edelstein Amber (2013 ink of the year)

Pilot Capless (aka Vanishing Point) with fine nib and Diamine Bilberry.

(Writing in a Leuchtturm Master notebook, but the ones with blank paper hold the ink much better....)

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

A little more with what's currently inked... My young 'un wanted some black ink in her Creeper, so, that's added in now...

I'm at a coffee shop with all my inked pens but I forgot to bring paper. D'Oh!

Sotto The nib on mine is fine in both senses of the word but I like broad nibs and stubs.

Lou Welcome to the thread. Congrats on the Snorkel, there are lots of those around in many different colors and trims.

Tas I was drinking The Macallan 12, a single malt scotch. R&K inks are among my favorites and the price is still good in the States.

Cybaea That Pelikan looks great. I like the Rhodia top wirebound pads so the binding is out of the way and I can use both side of the paper.

Apperenti Purple sounds great. I really need to look at the Platinum music nibs but I keep seeing vintage ones.

Zoniguana Be careful if she already likes things labled Prada :) How old is she?

I'll have something new to share later next week.

Ooooohhh! I think I may need a lawyer (Amberlea?). Aaaah! Today I woke up to almost springlike conditions here in New York. As you all know, the winter this year has been awful. That is the good news. The bad news is that this is what I found. Ooooooh!

Those are my pens. That is my ink and that is my ink-stained hand (but I do not remember how the ink got there). I do not know who that snow man is. I have never seen him in my life. (Thank God it is not Bozo).

I woke up to see spring-like weather and, to my horror eight fountain pens in a snowman. The pens are from left to right: Bexley Americana with Diamine Syrah, Sheaffer Connoiseur (the Levenger version, I think with Diamine Apple Green, Newton Pens Tiger Stripes with Diamine Peach Haze, Mabie Todd Astoria Yellow Striped with Akkerman Parpoop Purpur 15, Brown Esterbrook J with Stipula Musk, Franklin-Christoph Intrinsic 02 with Noodler's Rattler Red, Waterman Onyx Lady Patricia with Diamine Ochre, and a Parker Lady Duofold with Iroshisuku Tsuki-yo.

Woe is me, woe is me.....

He's died Plistumi.

Is there any chance this is a "Orient Express" situation?

(Copic Ciao)
(Letraset Flex Marker)
(Faber-Castell PITT)

To my defence, I never tried to draw a human head before and additionally it is my first attempt to use alcohol markers.
I bought some because I was curious if I would like them or not.
It is a attempt to draw the new Sherlock Holmes actor (Benedict Cumberbatch), but the similarity is not great.
Anyway I´m fine with my first quick attempt. :)

Apprenti, may I ask, the Platinum is a SF nib? Was it in any way modified?

Above all shadows rides the Sun
And Stars for ever dwell:
I will not say the Day is done,
Nor bid the Stars farewell.

Yep, standard SF nib. No modifications at all.

The Nakaya is a Spencerian-nibbed Soft Fine Nakaya. The Platinum is VERY similar, the biggest difference being it's smoother, slightly wider and doesn't flex to as big a line (despite the fact the nibs bigger). It's my main writer (for 'normal writing') and I love it. It's very smooth with a decent semi-flex with very minimal railroading. It's SO much nicer than the Noodler's flex pens, and I really like it! Don't expect huge swells, but it's a really nice everyday pen with semi-flex capabilities.

Let me know if you want any more info,

Joe

I'd like to point out that, although it's smoother than the Nakaya, that's not necessarily a good thing. I love the feedback of the Nakaya's nib, and I like the feedback of the Platinum. It's much less specialised, which is probably why I vastly prefer the Nakaya (because it was ground for me).

That said, the Platinum is amazing. I'm shocked that a pen this good can be made for the price it's offered at (and it's not an inexpensive pen!).

I cleaned the area with hot water (and JB Flush). I hope that is not wrong.

Plistumi,

Love the snow pens!

Here are the pens that I have inked today, in order by nib width. The first photo was a quick and dirty flash shot on my desktop and the pens don't show up well on that background. So I took a better shot on a white board on the floor using only the normal Pacific Northwet cloudlight coming in through the window. The exposure time was 1.3 seconds, it's a dim, dark, rainy day today. But using that soft light avoids all the harsh reflections that I get when I use artificial lighting. Oh, and it's a bay window, hence the multiple shadows.

I do know how to spell Iroshizuku, but when I'm printing neatly my brain tends to get way ahead of where my hand is and funny things just happen. And there's no backspace key!

Pen #2, the Articula, has a 14K semi-flex nib that's capable of a lot more than I know how to use. I've had the pen for close to 20 years but I'm just now starting to explore the flex. I've always just used a very light touch with it in the past and pretended that it was only a fine point.
