Sometimes I feel embarrassed to post my chicken scratches. I spent a little more time on the top photo to make up the difference. I think I am still a bit short. :)

@Prvt. Toter : Love your Bible notes with all those little details everywhere. Nice; and a potentially a great tool for communicating.

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

thott, I know.

Every time I see one of these gorgeous pens my blood pressure rises in the fear that one might roll off the owner's desk and fall onto a floor :o

I'd have to carpet the whole house before taking ownership of one of these bad boys.

The urushi finish on Nakaya pens is actually quite hard and durable. My experience has been that it resists better than most pens the surface scratches and tiny bumps and nicks that seem to happen during daily use. I've carried one clipped into a shirt pocket on a four day canoe trip and it did just fine. Once, when landing a Northern Pike that got a little feisty, it popped out of my pocket and into the bottom of the canoe. Besides some fish slime which easily washed off, it was as good as new.

Here's what I'm carrying in my pocket today, ready for Christmas cards and notes. No canoe trips this time of year, but perhaps a snowmobile trip when it warms up (currently -4 F, -28 F windchill):

Dear thott. In my experience there's no problem with the urushi finish.

Last weeks I use a Naka ai polished shu and this one as every day writers and for protection a 2 pen Montblanc case.

Thanks

This is off topic, but I thought I'd share. I've become a tea drinker in the past few months, and this one is a favorite. Written with OMAS Ogiva Guilloche, B stub, Diamine Eau de Nil just after filling hence the dark, saturated look from the ink.

@revdr I have long been a fan of yerba mate, and recently started enjoying the smokey taste of lapsang souchong. Never tried rooibos before.

Be forewarned... I will eye-bang the bejeezus out of your pens...
Never play leapfrog with a unicorn...

In light of the Holiday season, I'm using a rather famous poem for my penmanship samples. I've put the pen and ink used in each sample - there are three different sampls with my Esterbrook because I kept purchasing incorrect ink. I'm all better, now. thanks.

@zoni, these sound fascinating - I'll have to check them out. Rooibos is really great for those times when allergies strike. It's a red bush from South Africa with subtle vanilla notes. I love mine w honey.

@krazyivan, I was just thinking about the Italix Parson's Essential the other day. How do you like yours?

Hey tjchervy - Do you have have any problems with that acrylic ink in a vintage pen? I bought some a while back but only use it with dip pens and paint brushes. Do you flush the pen after each use, or am I just too paranoid?
