What a week! I decided to reward myself for all the good things I have done. Of course with a fountain pen.

@tringle, I've always been curious about Krone pens. Yours looks lovely. Congratulations on a new pen and a job well done this week. :)

It's been a quiet holiday so far; the other day I found my bounty of pens overflowing so I wandered into my shop and came up with the interim solution in cheap white pine. I repaired, sort of, my Waterman No. 52 by switching out nibs. It came with a damaged Conklin #2 that I've not yet been able to tune satisfactorily. Then the lightning bolt hit; the nib and feed don't match. So I swapped out the #2 for a #3 Conklin from a junker Crescent I purchased recently for parts.

And the Interim Solution to the Pen Problem. I'm deciding on a stain and don't care for what I see, so I'll probably mix one using tung oil, turpentine and oil paint pigments. It's made of white pine; holds 33 pens. For those interested, it's 0.50" diameter holes bored on 0.75" centres to 2.0" deep; finished to 220 grit. I'll post another pic when it's stained and finished. It's footprint is about 9x3 inches, ~3.5 inches tall.

@akstorm - I like the one with the elephant as the clip.

Yes it is interesting, i actually didn't notice the elephant themed clip until i read someone's post pointing that the clip was elephant shaped. And i was like, wait, i have that pen too. :P

@RevDr - Missing the food shoot for this one, but, this is one of the pipes my Grandaddy passed down to me some years ago...

Ptero —

No number on the cap ring, there are two plus symbols ( + ) between "Pelikan" and "Germany" on opposite sides, ii.e.: + GERMANY + PELIKAN. The top tapers rather like a Parker 45. The cap itself has the pelikan and two fledglings stamped into a dished recess.

I haven't gone to Fink's jewelers yet; the Conklin junker arrived not long ago and I used that nib. I will eventually get the #2 repaired, but the urgency is not there now.

Tringle —

Yes, graphics folks like that, drawing boards aren't places one wishes to clutter up. In my case, I have the space betwixt my printer and tower for the stand, so I designed around that rather than a carousel concept. The graphics one has a base about a foot in diameter, as I recall. One of these days I'll un-earth it from where ever it got packed when we moved to this house.

Plus there is a certain satisfaction in being able to see the horde in one place, rather than jammed into two old-fashioned tumblers. The next time I'm down in the Mayodan area, I'll pick up a bundle each of Steve Wall's oak and cherry shorts and re-do it, plus whatever SWMBO wants.

Y'all have a good one, it's about time for me to disappear before the University of Tennessee takes the football field and SWMBO starts yelling at them. She was watching Duke/UNC. Nobody for me to root for there; I'm a Wolfpack fan and Duke Medical Centre rubbed my nose in "Not Duke, not worthy of Our Exalted Consideration" for too long to get me to root for them.

Feet up with a slightly modified Ahab, filled with the ever so well behaved Parker Black Quink.

It's not very obvious here but this ink has some gorgeously subtle colouring when gently washed over.

Loving all the pens on here this week but have vowed not to be tempted to buy another until next year. Only 31 days to go . . . !

Just took this to try and show it.

Tas, I envy your talent, I'm barely capable of producing a thumbnail sketch to work from for projects in the shop.

I'd never thought of Quink as a drawing medium, it has lovely shading there and a nice warm colour.

Using some brighter colors today to counter the general gloominess of an all-day snowstorm.
