Thanks! As far as I know it's factory. It's an older West Germany model and I got it from fleabay from a person who was actually selling it as an M600. It wasn't until I got it in the mail that I started to think "this is heavier and bigger than it should be…".

Kind of like the time I though I was getting a woodgrain Waterman 52 and it turned out to be a 55. :yikes:

I'm fixing up some pens for a wife's friend and just finished getting what I'm convinced was dried India ink out of a Pelikan M200. I compared it to my M405.

Are you sure that's an M200 and not an M250?

hmmmmm.... I love the shading of Apache Sunset but it does not dry for ages and smears a long time.

Even I used a blotter paper carefully to dry it before scanning is my scanner full of it again. :(

You can find a review of my Waterman 45 here:

Pterodactylus -- it seems to work okay. I tried using Bad Black Moccasin and it was horrible, it was runny and blotchy. As I recall, India ink is made with carbon, I know it clogged a Rapidograph like nobody's business -- half the ink we used in the art department went down the drain when we flushed the 'graphs. The Bay State needed a new dip about every third word. Mind, this is the second or third time I've used a dip nib, prior to that the closest I came were draughtsman's ruling pens with India ink, dropper filled. A four-point rule with no screwups was an achievement. And we hated to do them.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, my Conway Stewart No. 475, inked with Private Reserve 'Tanzanite':
