Heh... accidentally replied to the other text, without the pictures!... anyway...

I have been a looooong time lurker, but i never actually posted anything at all. I was a student back when i opened the account, living in a country where imported goods have a hefty premium (that if you can even find them!), so even modest pens were mostly unaffordable to me.

Anyway, now i am starting to slowly build a modest collection of pens. Here is the one that, in my humble opinion, gives the most fun for your buck. I have gone through hundreds of pages with these parallel pens.

I love it when a new pen arrives.

http://i176.photobucket.com/albums/w161/drwwe/Pens/A2BE236B-D9DC-4201-BBBD-9FC87C6DCFA6-19391-000051996F728D1E.jpg

So far I like it. Smooth writer and well finished for an inexpensive pen.

Thanks for this sample writing, picture and first impression notes. I am considering this pen for the wrench and now I am looking at it as a writer as well. I need the wrench for Pelikan 1000 blind cap replacement. I could tool my own; but from viewing a YouTube video I see this wrench is a perfect fit for it.

I inked up some different pens this morning. First, a Mabie Todd & Co. Swan Visofil 340/76 (Mark II)... Next a 1920s Salz Bros. lever filler ... And last, one of my favorite Eversharp Skylines

Thanks for the welcome!!!

You have a nice selection of pens as well...

I look forward to finding time to show some more of mine...

Mukukaduk:I hope your Pilot Namiki Falcon pen is over the railroading problem. I had the same problem with mine. Also the nib and feed was uneasy to take off (they are friction fit), so I had to use a hammer and a "stick" from the back side to loosen them. But be careful; it is very easy to damage the thing. After loosening the feed, I cut a tiny tiny tiny slice along the feed channel, and now the pen is working quite well. Probably I could cut a little bit more, but I don't want too much ink flow on this pen, so I haven't done more of it.

I tried to make a photo, but it didn't show anything. Then I found this thread on FPN, and it explains things better than I can do. It also shows a good photo:

(sorry, couldn't find out how to make a proper link from my android tab)

The tines were spread a bit and the nib seems to a bit banged up, but a great nib for my writing style. Happy

This was my Grandmother's copper Esterbrook J. Though I can't be sure, I like to think my Grandfather, whose birthday was July 4, used this pen from time to time, so I always try to have it inked for Independence Day.

The MB Carlo Collodi ink has fantastic shading and matches the copper Estie J pretty well, I think.

My new pens:

1. Waterman Commando - burgundy with a semi flexible nib. Nice writer, just have difficulty with flex nibs I have a tendency to splatter ink.

2. Conklin crescent filler - a rough pen but I like the simplicity of the crescent fillers. Cap is cracked, pen is a great writer after I had it tuned by PB.

3. Conklin - Combination fountain pen and mechanical pencil. A favorite of mine in black and brown. A fine firm nib, no flex, so no splatter. :D

4. Parker 51 demi - I bought this on on a whim. I did not like writing with my grandads vacumatic 51 but for some reason I really like this pen. It has an octanium medium nib.

5. Sheaffer flat top - Chased version, chasing has worn off, a firm medium writer, I call it my sleeper pen!

Hello gang glad to see you are keeping the thread alive and kicking. Been busy getting some work done and have not had time to play with my collection.

Troy

p.s. This is my update because I realized my first photo was TOO small for all of us to see.

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time
