I picked up this CS 58 Series Red Whirl this morning at the Midland Pen Show, in Lichfield. Still with it's diamond-shaped leather inner presentation box. Can't remember when they had this model re-launch but I'd guess that it's either never been used or exceedingly rarely. A great pen.

Sorry about the pic quality but I don't do macro!

Thanks! Great ink! What have you done with this pen to get it write so well? I've got one, but it gives way to much ink, flows like a river!

Hi Line,

Thanks :)

Hofkwartier Groen is my favorite green.

Same was valid for my exemplar, I have to say that it's not one of my favorite pens.

When I got it it was unusable wet, I tinkered a lot with the nib position around but either it was too wet or it railroaded all the time.

I also tried to narrow the slit between the tines but nothing helped really.

Finally I heat set the feed and now it is somehow ok.

Also the nib was very scratchy when I got it, but it is quite flexible.

When I start writing it is always too wet.

Sometimes it even drips into the cap.

When I received my 50 pen case (pencase.co.uk) with light blue interior it made a ugly green stain spot in it the first day :gaah:

So before I start writing I always wipe the feed with a tissue to get rid of the over saturated feed.

Then it writes quite well, it even has the tendency to run too dry.

So after a couple of sentences a couple of seconds pause are a good idea, otherwise it starts railroading.

So it is somehow ok now, but far away from really good.

I would not recommend buying one ( I think they are still available as NOS on eBay)

Playing with some recent arrivals - Noodler's Eternal inks, all but the last three... And had to use a couple of dip pens to go through them. First was with an Esterbrook Falcon nib, then with a glass dip pen (which, incidentally, seems to vary from fine through medium, maybe into broad, bearing in mind that I once found medium nibs to be frighteningly wide, depending upon the rotation of the nib)...
