Line - what is that pen?

It is a Norwegian pen from the late 40ies or early 50ies. My father gave it to me, he got it in his youth.

Hi Uncle Red,

no they are all the same size, but the box has a little gimmick.

There is a cord (behind the 4th row) and when you pull on it the 2nd, 3rd and 4th row will raise and build these nice floors.

On the lid of the box you can easily fix the cord so the pens will stay raised.

So you can easily grab a pen out.

They also write really good (kind of India ink) with bright colors (waterproof).

The tip is like a brush, but not too flexible.

It's very easy to draw very fine to very broad lines, you have good control.

On the other hand I also have one Pentel Brush Pen with a very flexible brush tip.

For me this pen is not really usable, much too flexible, a can't really control the line and the result is for me unpredictable.

Esterbrook nib, up close and personal, in Neponset pen... Unfortunately, I cannot see the numbers and as nicely as it is behaving, am reluctant to pull it out of there... After doing a bit of digging, I found this thread, which shows the nib as being R. Esterbrook Bank Pen, No 14. It is actually described in the booklet as being a firm nib! And yet, I find it to be amazingly soft...

Pterodactylus, I wondered if the tips were different sizes but then I wouldn't have found out about the neat box.

Zoniguana, It's a dip pen nib in Carbon steel, it will eventually corrode but you can get replacements.

Ahhh, sorry I misunderstood it.

I have only a set with B pens = Brush size.

But there are also XS (black only) S, F, M sizes available (mainly Fineliner like tipping)

There is also a BB = big brush size.

@Pter - I love the Sea Horse.

Wow, its been two weeks since I last posted. I've finally caught up reading through this thread with the wonderful drawings, great pens, cool ink, awesome handwriting. And plenty of new folks joining in - I love it.

Pens shown, from top to bottom:

CONID fountainbel Bulkfiller FPR demonstrator, No. 9 of 60, Ti M stub by Francis Goossens, inked with R&K Sepia

Kaweco Sport Green Ice, homemade bulb filler, steel M nib, inked with Noodler's Zhivago

Sheaffer Calligraphy Pen, 1.8mm nib, Sheaffer black cartridge

TWSBI Micarta 805, steel B stub by Pendleton Brown, Waterman's Florida Blue

The fountainbel looks a little rough because there is ink inside the cap after being tossed around (cased, thank goodness) in a bus for 11 days. These pens are all great travelers and performed flawlessly, even in 99 degree heat.

irrigger - not sure where you might order a Neponset. The nibs just arrived at the show, and Nathan is still hand-fitting each one, so, they might not quite yet be out for prime time... I hope soon, though!

It is no phase... It's a static condition for her... Pink and purple are her two fave colors (along with green, and blue, and red, and brown and orange and... and... and.. and...)
