I like the Franklin Christophe, very similar looking to the Faber-Castell.

I showed this pen in the thread about pens you keep but don't like, and that prompted me to take it home and play with it a bit. A little time with a fine grind stone, gently spread the tines a bit, inked it from an old bottle of Waterman ink, and it actually works now. I bought this pen when I was in medical school, I believe in 1993 or 1994. I think I'll keep it.

Lambretta, go to the Parker thread and ask the question there. I think you would have a panel of experts on Parkers there who could give you a good answer, you may even find someone who might lend you one to try out!

Thanks Stompie! I just did that...I hope someone answers...

I would be interested in any OF to OM writing/drawing sample though...not only Parker

Keep writing, drawing, doodling, sketching, asking etc.

DRWWWE - Your Waterman LeMan 100 is a very nice and well balanced pen. I would keep it also.

Lambretta - You can write whatever you want! I do not usually write with a fine nib. I like a medium and up, my one EF is a new Sailor 1911 and it's me first regret pen. I just cannot get used to such a tiny nib.

Hello to akustyk, stompie, skysora, etc.

Note: Clean hands after eating chicken, then deciding to write.

My avatar is drawn with my mercedes which has ab oblique fine (or medium) with a bit of flex. I really like this nib for drawing. There is very little line variation unless I use the flex.

You might like to try a Semi flex nib for drawing. Gives a lot of line variation. A good pen is for instandce a (Pilot) Namiki Falcon.

Hello again!

I was wondering if anyone of you has a Parker Duofold (or maybe another pen) with an Oblique Fine nib? I was looking everywhere for some writing/drawing OF samples ....in vain :(

I would like to know if an oblique nib would help me create some more line variation while drawing or would it skip all the time while not holding to a certain angle?

I always tend to turn the nib towards me when I write and draw... actually when I draw I twist the pen all the time in all directions and use all the sides of the nib. I did not realise that until I watched a video of my hands while I draw...

And if I turn an oblique upside down, does it produce a thinner line like the rounded nibs?

I have some dip pens with reverse oblique nibs. They are totally flat, sharp as hell and a bit too broad for detailed drawing so they don't really help me imagine how an OF would work.

The thing is I finally ordered my new Duofold. It comes with an F nib...but I could exchange the nib within 4 weeks. I'm really interested in the OF but I'm not sure if I can test it anywhere in Berlin... In all the stores I've been to I've been told I will probably have to send my pen to Parker (in Hamburg I think) if I'm not happy with the F nib.

Hi Lambretta88,

we had the topic oblique nibs recently in this thread.

As I wrote there I don't think that a modern spherical oblique nib give you a different writing experience.

Within the last 15 or 20 pages you can find several posts I wrote with oblique nibs, but they are all vintage.

Including (I think) at least two OF, OM, OB and two OBB nibs

Don't think that a modern oblique nib make sense at all.

Many nibs write upside down (also obliques), and many will write finer but there is no guarantee that your specific nib will do.

There are not many topics this thread do not cover, but you have to dig it out ;)

I already posted this on the Italian pen section but since this is quite an active thread: The tipping on my visconti opera snapped off on one tine... yeah @#$%! One tine was slightly misaligned and when i flexed the pen it went "click" and yeap @#%@! Where can I purchase one online... I wouldn't want my parents finding out I broke the nib =.=

Words cannot describe how angry I am right now; had the WORST two weeks ever and now this. just no. Please someone tell me I can get a new nib ):

Hi Mukukaduk,

I would try to clarify this issue with the seller of the pen first as it is a new one.

To solve it via the pen warranty, could be a material issue if it simple chipped off (nib not bended)

I don't think you parents will be angry because of a material issue.

..... Keep in mind these modern pens are not designed to be flexed excessively ;)
