Hi Lambretta88,

Great :) I love also these.

You could try to contact Lutz Fiebig regarding your Sheaffer.

He is a very competent repairman, he helped me with a vintage Mont Blanc recently.

I don't think you have to rob a bank to get it repaired.

He is located in Magdeburg, so not very far from Berlin (So you could even visit him personally making a little trip)

Pterodactylus I can't believe it! I've been looking for a repairman who lives at least in Europe and did not find anyone...I thought I will have to send my pen back to America, where it came from :) I even visited a German forum for pens and everyone had the same problem.

So there is still hope for my Sheaffer!

:notworthy1: Thank you

akustyk,

Thank you for the compliment. I myself do not consider my writing all that great when I compare it to others, but I do find a great deal of amusement in making ridiculous flourishes.

OOPhoto, what ink are you using in the Waterman 54? The color variation fascinates me. You get amazing flex with the Ahab. I readjusted my nib and still can't flex that far which is ok, I'm still happy with the pen.

Pterodactylus, your mouse looks like he'll have no problem taking on a few cats. Cute little fellow.

Lambretta88, your drawings are amazing. You've captured the personalies of the cats very well, I can see some of the cats I've had over time in the way you portrayed them. Your Love Letter is beautiful and deserves being framed and hanging on a wall.

Line, your handwriting looks great no matter which pen you use, but your style with the oblique pen absolutely floored me.

Akustyk, your pennmanship has a nice flow.

measond,

The ink is Montblanc Toffee Brown. There is a trick to getting the Ahab to flex like that. You take the pen gently in your fingers then address the paper at a comfortable, natural writing angle. When you are ready to flex close your eyes and shout at the top of your lungs "CHUCK NORRIS FLEX!" and strike the paper like Chuck Norris strikes faces with a round house kick. Seriously, you have to press really freaking hard. My hand will hurt if I write more than a paragraph with that pen.

There are quite a few repairers in the UK as well. The one chap I have used for almost every pen I have is on FPN and called Oxonian. He is very good and his prices are great too!

OK, it's not a FP, but the topic is "pen", not "fountain pen".

Info on the first Expert model seems rare. My research has only resulted in reports that the nibs were consistently smooth, (more so than the Expert II, in my experience). The 'key-hole' breather hole is interesting and the converter is threaded.

I have included photographs of the nibs on the Gold Trim and Chrome Trim Expert II models, and the nib on the smooth Phileas just for fun!

P.S. Luv the brush pen! Very interesting effects.

P.P.S. These photographs were taken with the camera on a fairly 'dumb' smart-phone, yet the results are amazing. It's worth buying just for the camera alone.

Writing with the Waterman Green Marble Phileas (M) in the last post reminded me of how pleased I was when I received this pen from a seller in the USA.

Up until then it was the smoothest nib I had ever used in a fountain pen and I immediately sourced another, (Red Marble Fine nib), from Greece.

Until then I was considering not bothering with fountain pens as they were all too scratchy and unpleasant to use, even the couple of "quality" pens I had bought. (Both considerably more expensive than the Phileas).

So it was this pen which 'encouraged' me to persevere with my quest for a smooth FP experience, thank goodness!

Steve.

Hi Line

Apologies for the typewritten response; little tied up... I *love* my Geha. But, I recently learned that the nib on my Schulfuller is much stiffer than another, and the other I tried is significantly more flexible than man... I have nib envy... ;-)

Thinking the green is a Macy-branded Endura or Duragraph, but ignorant of both... If anybody has a means of distinguishing those two pens, that'd be really helpful. Both require the same sac, so, from a repair standpoint it's a no-impact, but, curiosity strikes again...
