Nothing beats a good dip pen nib when it comes to hairlines and flexibility (the hairlines are thinner i reality than it appears on the photo).

A few details about the Mabie Todd.

By the way, Pterodaktylus; that Mont Blanc nib is really really really beautiful! As you say, it's an OB. What is your experience with the different oblique nibs? I really like my Mercedes oblique nib. It is probably a fine (or maybe a medium). I wonder if I should buy an oblique medium, for instance a Pelikan (I'm stretching the limits even buying Pelikans. Mont Blancs are way beyond my budgets).

line, I'll let Pt answer in more detail, but I've had a few vintage MBs with oblique nibs and they are really something special. Here are two:

Montblanc 14 (c. 1960s), 14C OBB (Diamine Grape ink)

Montblanc 25 Masterpiece Safety Pen (c. 1920s), 18C OBB (R&K Verdigris ink)

But, I've seen the light... And the dark... And the shading... And the sheen... And the line variation... And... And... And... Oh (bleep) I'm an addict...

Edit: this is Galileo Brown, in my Bulow x750, w/ bold nib...
