My guess, the Waterman 52 1/2 is the flexiest and the easiest flex too.

Thank Stompie. I have been scouting ebay for quite some time for these Waterman 52 1/2 - surprised how expensive they end up being. And I thought there were plenty made back then so in theory should be cheap

skysora, that Sheaffer looks like a great pen - they are very light, and with the Feathertouch nib it must be a dream to use. PS, sorry about misspelling your name in an earlier post.

I thought the vintage Skrip Melon Red would be a closer match to the RWHR on this pen, but the pen is a tad more orange than the ink. Any suggestions?

Yes! I'm surprised how light it is. When I pick up my vanishing point it's as though I'm lifting weights.

No worries about my name! It's a strange one, anyway--sora is sky in Japanese, so I'm double-sky. Silly.

Hmmm... that vintage melon red sure looks like what I imagine Noodler's Empire Red to be. It's beautiful.

The Waterman is the only flex nib in today's set. The Konrad has a Knox brand stub.

I've got nice soft nibs from Waterman, Moore and Mabie Todd. Flex but a little stiffer from Waterman, Morrison and EHCO.

With Morrison you want the Hard Rubber pens, in the Celluloid era they started a decline.

Moores can be really sweet, again the earlier ones are more likely to be soft but Moore held up a little better/longer.

My Mabie Todd Blackbird is a frankenpen so I don't have a clear idea what they are like normally. The nib is very soft but the pen is very wet.

Everyone knows Waterman pens have flexy nibs (well not always) so that's what people look for when they think they want a flexy nib. It drives up the price.

Check out the Less Than $100 page at Five Star Pens. Also check out Peyton Street Pens, Teri has a Flexible Nibs page but it isn't really complete so look over the site.

I'm a happy customer of both.

Fountain pen Recycler has some flex nib pens at a lower price but you need to look them over carefully. My Blackbird came from them and it was not labled as a frankenpen but the price was so low I knew it would have issues. They do have pens at all price ranges and their pens are shipped quickly and are very well packaged.

~snip~

It's my CE Levi Brass Colossus. And yes, the other pen is a Swan, a 3012 to be precise.

My apologies for a typed response, but I don't have the time to write one. :(

yes, most definitely Stompie.

I had left MB Blue-Black in one of my piston fillers and it has been a bear to clean out. It is still soaking and soaking and soaking... :headsmack:
