PS, you're a mega-loser if you glue the section to the body. :bonk:

oh... no... :crybaby:

I think I've got retina scaring from that one. :headsmack:

That hurts bigtime, I think I'd rather break a couple of fingers than a Red ripple... (fingers will heal, Red ripple pain is forever...)

Thank you, I have now found they have both dried to roughly the same colour, definitely a combination of what you said, and the nib creating the different initial shading.

The sad moment when you actually have to explain what a fountain pen is to somebody.

Hi all, I had a great Valentine's Day trip with my wife to the Georgia Coast. Much warmer there than here in Northern Minnesota, and we were very glad for the mid-winter break. Have you heard what a wonderful city Savannah is? Marvelous.

Inked up this monster stub today, just for fun, as described on another thread:

Akustyk, that's the reason I stick to reputable dealers and stay away from Ebay. On Ebay it seems you need to deal in volume or get lucky.

Swans are supposed to be really nice, I do have a (Very Wet) Blackbird with good flex.

dcpritch, welcome back! Your photos always make the nibs look monumental, but wow that's some monster!

akustyk, After seeing so many great pens on this thread, I thought I knew what to expect when I walked into the Philly Pen Show. But it was a whole other story to see the pens in the flesh. "Oh my gosh, it's SO tiny!" was the shriek I gave out upon seeing my first Waterman 0552 1/2 v. (Couldn't quite tell if the nice gentleman who was selling the pen was amused or annoyed  ) And from watching people at the show I learned that you test the flex on your fingernail...

In addition to FPN these days I visit Mauricio Aguilar's site (vintagepen.net) just to admire the wonderful flexy nibs. Can't really afford any of the pens there, but it's fun to look. The photos are educational and from looking at them I learned quite a bit about the different levels of flex. I think mine is a medium flex. I *think*, because I haven't tried any other :D
