Montblanc Organizer/agenda/notebook Recommendations?

Recommended Posts

For those that own a Montblanc leather organizer/agenda/notebook, can you comment on the quality of the products? I am looking to purchase one of the three types, most likely a notebook, but I wanted to get opinions on the quality first. I have read that the paper is wonderful, but I'd like to get opinions on the overall quality. If you have specific model recommendations, that would be great too, since there are a lot of different types of these organizers/agendas/notebooks on eBay. I am somewhat cautious of purchasing one there, but I haven't been able to find anywhere else (including the classifieds section) that sells them other than authorized dealers.

Thanks to anyone that can help!

I have a couple of large MB leather 'conference' items and I can say that the quality is great so you have no fears in that department. Size wise that is a personal thing. I always go for A4 size, which I think is classed as 'legal' size in the USA, but have not even tried the paper which was supplied with the folio.

Price was they are expensive if bought brand new but will last you a working lifetime. Let us know what you pick.

I have one that I got a part of a combo deal on ebay along with a nice 147pen.

Leather is nice, size is about a 4x6, maybe a bit larger. I picked up some fillers at Office Depot so avalibility of fillers is fine. I tried to locate Montblanc filler but price was out of sight.

Regards

Hi,

I have the Meisterstuck notebook large. I too have doubted and searched a long time.

I think it depends on your needs which one you to have to choose. I use it for businessmeetings and don't use paper agenda's. So I could bring down my choices. Than it was to choose which functionality you need and which kind of leather you like.

The Meisterstuck is a deep shiny black leather.

The 4810 Westside is a rougher kind of leather. Good for heavy users I think, but I didn't like the zipper.

Oh and than size. I have the large one, but actually the medium notebook is build nicer. (Innerparts are also made of leather.) The large one's innerside is made of fabric and holds only two creditcards, while the medium notebook holds more creditcards. It's kind of a combination between a notebook and organiser.

Maybe you can tell us where you are located so maybe some local member can give you more advice where to buy.

Good luck!

I am located in the United States if that makes a difference. I have found a good deal on the 9504 Small Organizer in a tan/natural leather color. I believe that it may be from the Diaries and Notes collection. Can anyone recommend the small size organizer?

 I have MB's large Organiser, which is about 24.5 x 20 cm and takes A5 sheets. It is a full leather, sturdy construction with some useful pockets inside. There is a loop for a pen to be carried but I don't use it.

I use my trusty organiser every day at work, in particular the calendar sheets (stock number 106402) and the blank note sheets (stock number 03031).

Whilst I had used an electronic organiser (Palm/Psion)iPaq/Outlook etc) since the early 1990s, I was determined to make use of my pen collection. The switch to a paper organiser was hard but absolutely worth it and I get tremendous satisfaction from using pen and paper. For what it is worth, I keep 6 months of calendar in it at a time (currently March 2012 to August 2012).

The MB paper is excellent, particularly with my MB 149's F nib and Mystery Black ink. I used to get my calendar and note paper from my local boutique. They would call me to confirm the new calendar was out and this gave me the excuse to browse the other products. Unfortunately Manchester's boutique closed down last month so I will now need to order from London or online (shame).

I personally would struggle with smaller than A5 and anything bigger would be a little awkward for my needs. Whether you buy new or get a newish one from e-Bay, you will not be disappointed. Happy hunting.

Pavoni, which boutique in Manchester has closed down? Is it the one within Harvey Nicks as I do not know of any other?

Sincere apologies to the OP for hijacking this thread for a moment as I reply to an important question.

Yes Pen Nut, it is the one in Harvey Nicks. Real Pain as the nearest for us is now Birmingham. Amanda (Manchester's Manager) said that she didn't know whether it was the Store or MB that had made the decision but there was no plan for a new boutique in Manchester. As I already had a 149 sent from there to Hamburg, she advised me that I would have to pick up in London. When picking up my new bespoke and personalised nib from the New Bond Street boutique, I asked whether there were any plans for Manchester. Unfortunately it looks as though MB are concentrating on Capitals and Airports here in the UK. As I have a good relationship with Old Bond Street, I'm probably going to stick with them, though I have heard the service in Birmingham is very good.

I, too, have the Meisterstuck Larges Notes (thats what MB calls it). It's A5 and I use it for my daily diary. The notebook is, IIRC, about 240 pages. The leather is excellent as is the paper of the refills. It's expensive but worth it. Not wishing to throw a spanner in the works, look alson at Smythson. Their leather is at least the equal of MB. I also have a SMythson notebook.:)
