Here's my review of a very good green that comes at a reasonable price. :)

Yes, I like this green a lot and it's nice that it is also available in cartridges.

This is indeed a soft green that is very easy on the eye. It shades well in wet pens too.

I find that it pairs nicely with the Diamine China Blue... both colours are gentle and relaxing to read.

Nice review again...I did try this one, but it didn't click. It was an impulse buy when the shop didn't have Green Black.

Your written review shows the same faintly visible graininess that I'm seeing from this ink. Even with the double and triple passes of the swabs, you see tiny dots of darker or lighter color. I'm using Staples bagasse paper and writing with a Pilot Vanishing Point M nib, and I thought perhaps it might be the effect of the paper, but I see it also on Clairfontaine.

Has anyone else seen this effect?

This is my 3rd bottle of Umber, the first two bought last fall/winter having been an apparent bad batch that immediately produced SITB.

FWIW, comparing this to J Herbin Vert Empire, the Umber is much more mid-green, Vert Empire is grayer.

Now that you mention it, yes, I believe I've seen this. The color is lovely, but it does have a graininess to it particularly as it's going down on the page (i.e. when wet). It's a little less noticeable once dried. I'm looking at some journal entries written on HP 32 lb. paper.

Any graininess (if there is any - I don't remember seeing it) certainly goes away once the ink is dry. Have a look at the swab test on my review of Diamine Umber.

Sorry - deleted post. I tried to scan and upload a page written with Vert Empire, but the color is really bad once it's here. Try the Swab Shop at Goulet, though on my monitor their swab of Umber has a lot more blue than I see or than shows in the OP's post.

My monitor, too. I'll have to try this ink again after getting over my disappointment over that lack of blue. :headsmack:
