Pilot Iroshizuku Yama Guri

How fortunate it is that I began a search of brown ink reviews and came upon this gem. There is always one on every site with the wit and dedication to go above and beyond all others...this one is it. I wanted a well behaved dark brown like wet winter wood and branchlets. <score> I wanted one that dried quickly but never in the pen. <score> I wanted one that would work for foreground sketches and softer outline work for drawings like that of Ivan Bilibin (c. 1900) in his delightful illustrations of Russian Folk Tales. <score>

Sidebar: for a treat, check this out via Google, see images:"ivan bilibin russian fairy tale illustrator" If his lush images don't bring a smile then you don't deserve your nibs! lol

Anyway, back to reality...I also wanted a brown that would stand for business and personal writing. <score>

And based on this superb review I found all the data I needed, well laid out. The ink has been ordered for $22 via 'that' online vendor, even though it will take some time to get here it won't set off the $25 spending tripwire. This will be my first Iroshizuku ink. Likely not my last.

"Drink me beauties" he crooned to his thirsting pens as he ladled the ink down their eager throats..."and let yer lines be bold and true!"

Welcome aboard! Sandy's reviews are always amazing! I did the google search, I remember some of those illustrations, I didn't know the name. We look forward to seeing some of your artwork once you have the ink!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

i love j herbin more than iro ink, j herbin ink's easily washed when you but your pen ink the water but iroshizuku doesn't, it get hard to wash if you leave it dry for a long time

Pilot Iroshizuku Yama Guri is a fantastic ink BUT why the extortionately high prices. Puts it way out of my league :(

Hi,

Perhaps you could acquire a sample to determine if Py-g is as desirable in person than depicted online, then make-up your mind.

Also, the two-part Topic 'Sepia Toned Ink Comparison - 32 Inks' by Member dcpritch might provide other avenues of pursuit. Part One https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/209494-sepia-toned-ink-comparison-32-inks/?p=2176436

My bottle just arrived yesterday in the mail and I've been writing with it all day. It's a definite keeper for me.

If it's too expensive for the budget, you could also purchase the Pilot Iroshizuku "mini" bottle of it from one of the online retailers or the sample vial from an online store like Goulet.
