Any idea if Bril Royal Blue stains the pen even after extended periods of time ? Also share your usage of common indian inks like camlin and parker quink

Haven't used brill of camlin inks for a long time. So no idea..quink is a good ink in my experience.

Only Indian ink I prefer is Krishna inks.

A very good quote from Mahabharata struck me last week and I thought I will share with you all

The quote is by Ashtavakra , one of the learned man as mentioned in Mahabharata.

The pen in use is Fosfor Maharaja in custom stabilised wood blank which is inked with Iroshizuku Syo-Ro.

Today I'm using my newly acquired Madras Ebonite Duofold-style pen inked with Noodler's Heart of Darkness. This has become my go-to pen at work hence the Noodler's HOD.

Great review as usual. Thanks for sharing. I skipped this group buy because I already have an ebonite bamboo, but I may have to reconsider getting the demo.

@Mehandiratta, thanks for posting this - the pen looks amazing! I've been hesitating on this group buy, for two reasons:

First, because the bamboo style of the pen makes it seem like a 'novelty' purchase to me - but I think you've cured me of that concern with your awesome review and pics!

Second, and this is still a concern for me, because the pen is a bit pricey, *especially* if I want to buy a 3-in-1 (which adds US$25 onto the price). I just recently received an ASA Nauka from the group buy, and it's a beautiful pen - though I much prefer it with the Goulet (JoWo) nib I swapped in. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this: do you recommend buying the Bock or Schmidt screw-in nibs, which come with plastic feeds (as you've done here), or do you think I'd get an equally good pen if I settled for eyedropper with ebonite feed, and maybe a Conklin nib?

Still not sure whether I'm going to jump on board with this pen - I'm keen to obtain another Ranga via group buy (I have a couple from a local Australian supplier), but wondering whether I'm better off waiting till the Number 8 is on offer again...

Just inked up two special pens. Very excited to use these for the next few weeks.

1. A shiny black ASA Nauka with a #6 two-toned Ambitious nib and Inked with Chesterfield Raven

2. A black Bakul Gama Eyas with a #6 flex Ambitious nib and inked with Noodler's Black Swan in English Roses.

I'm using a Serwex 77TR with Higgins Sepia today. It's not a bad little pen, but a bit of a hard starter, and tends to write dry. Any tuning suggestions would be appreciated.

I haven't tried anything as yet, but would plugging the cap breather hole help with the hard starting?

Thanks guys,

Doug

Isn't Higgins Ink to be used only with dip pens and not fountain pens? Not sure if that is what might be causing the hard starting issues.

I do not have a writing sample right now, however, I can make one when I get home in two weeks.

Supposedly it is safe for fountain pens, and I've used it for years with no problems. That being said, however, this pen might very well be the exception. I'll try another ink.
