What Indian Pens Are You Using Today?

Lovely pens, congrats! is this the supreme that you have already documented or is this another one?

Thanks Hari, for your kind comments.

Yes, it is the same Supreme - the one with the 14K custom nib. For some reason it keeps getting inked... :)

Incidentally, I also have another Supreme with the normal steel nib. The way I am able to tell the two pens apart is that the one with the Gold nib has a single thick(er) gold coloured cap band while the other Supreme has two thin(ner) gold coloured bands.

Don't know if that is the general rule or simply specific to my pens.

Cheers

Gold nib Ratnamson Supremes have that wide cap band. The cap band on such Supremes is also made of solid gold. HTH.

Thank you Hari. Very helpful, as usual.

I did not know the cap band is also solid gold - I thought it was just gold plated or gold coloured.

Just made the pen slightly more precioussss... :)

I have these two wonderful pens inked up and in service right now

2. A custom pen created by Fosfor pens with a Broad Jowo nib unit and inked with Montblanc Leonardo Red Chalk ink.

That custom pen is outstanding! Reminds me of Nakaya - very nicely executed. 👍🏼 Edited by puneet.singh

Please show us a little of that ink mix, it sounds interesting! a writing sample or swab?

Those transparent barrels really bring out the beauty of the pen.

Here it is

Under sunlight through window (glazed) and just under it

Under office light and window blinds part open

Bril turquoise is a little "dirty" to be used as it is. So mixed it with green.

Thank you!

Amazing the influence of the light on the scan/photo. The artificial light seems to bring out the green more, while the sunlight - through the glass - accentuates the blue. Or is that the sunlight through the open window? More light, anyway, and with a larger green component, it would seem.

Very enlightening. Under the sunlight it's a beautiful color. From the second picture, I would be tempted to add blue instead of green. Color perception is funny...

I like the Galactic so I might get one.... I already have the Wality which has become one of my "dailies" for sketching and local travel pen. The fine nib is very fine and wet!

On one of the comments on "ASA pens" they talk about a smaller one, but I don't see it there. ???

both are photos with my cell phone. scanning the same produced a nicer, lighter turquoise than the colour of the top photo. first photo is under sunlight through the glass that has sun film. So still there may be some coloration. Still the colour in the photo is close to what eyes can see in real terms. It was very hot to open the window.

The second photo is under fluorescent lamps plus light from the same window with the blinds (vertical ones) partly open. Practically it is under the lamp. Though these lamps are cool daylight type they have a greenish tinge on photos.

the correct white balance can be achieved only by our eyes and no consumer level sensor or film can do it AFAIK!! That's the effect.

Wality is infamous for temperamental nibs... Luckily on this one or is fine...

Your explanation makes it clearer, thanks.

I am wondering if the ink seemed greener to you under the fluorescent light, as well.
