What Indian pens are you using today?

 

Me, none yet. But waiting impatiently for a Wality 58SL.

I'll be playing quite a bit with my Varuna Gajendra, into which I just installed a new B nib from Brian Gray. It's smooth, wet, and I'm loving it; it's the first B nib I've ever had. I've got the pen loaded up with about a quart of Herbin Vert Empire.

Thanks for starting this thread, though wouldn't you agree that I am a co-inspirer in its formation

 

Anyway, I am using a Montex "handy" fountain pen... Indian brands are not very common and I came across this one by chance in a local discount store... Great writer though, but doesn't look professional; lots of brilliant colors all around and quite dandy feels light and "plastic" all around but is an excellent value for the price. I use it to take notes in class

Oh I forgot to add: care to share where I would be able to get some higher quality Indian fountain pens for a good price if you have such information.

Reminds me of those cheap German multicoloured Online fountain pens.

Wow, those are HUGE! Even the MB 149 looks like dwarf compared to it.

Yeah, well I kinda got ripped off with mine... I didn't get a converter, even though the packaging boasts of it. The seller refused to accept the pen back as I had opened the packaging (sealed plastic, so not resell-able after opening). Still good value, but I wish it had a converter in it too

Wality 69LFB, all black, medium nib, piston-filler. Did some ordinary nib-smoothing, and it is now a great pen.

Airmail 58CB Red with sparkles (recently purchased from FPN seller cjabbott) filled with Mont Blanc Ink of Joy. I don't have good photos myself yet, but I am posting a picture taken by cjabbott and hoping that he won't mind.

I think the reds are sold out, but the others may still be available! (I'm a satisfied customer, that's all).

 

The nib required some further smoothing, but it is a nice EF-F and great writer to boot!

 

My next pen on the wishlist is some sort of Varuna ED, but I am considering going the custom way with a nib that I have had my eye on for a while.

i did... i was stunned when Hari had a review on this pen and then i saw the ahab ( https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php?/topic/97401-sharad-dandekar/page__view__findpost__p__2245591 ). i all the time i thought the ahab was and original design .

I seem to remember (OK..."seem" is indefinite) that Noodler's piston-filler is another Indian pen, maybe a Camlin 47?

A friend of mine, who pilots a private jet, was recently in India and brought me back a Camlin SD (cost $12). I've been using it for a week now and am really liking the heft and feel.......and overall finish & quality of this pen. It writes smooth and wet as well, using Pelikan Royal Blue, which he also purchased for me in India @ $3 a bottle. I just ordered an Ahab last night and hopefully it will be here in a few days so I can compare them side by side.

a camlin trinity. great pen like all camlin pens. the camlin SD is sitting inked in my desk drawer.

According to FP revolution, the Noodler's piston filler uses the same mold as the Chelpark Maverick.
