and the description...

This is for a vintage fountain pen made by Watermans.

I have researched and found that these are very rare and this is a patented model.

Another was sold a while ago and the box read TRADE MARKS REGISTERED IN U.S. PAT. OFFICE, FEB. 6 1906, FEB. 13 1906, JAN. 15 1907, DEC. 15, 1908. MADE IN U.S.A

The side of this is stamped PAT.FEB.21.1922 so it definately dates after that.

I do not have a clue how it works etc. There are no marks for Waterman on the pen itself. I know there are a lot of pen collectors so I am sure you will know more about this than myself.

It has a couple of dents.

I think the main body is made of steel.

Man, the description is just awesome:

Priceless!! Thanks for the laugh :ltcapd:

However, TBH I'm not entirely sure what it *is* either...

A piece of a sawing machine? Of course, made by Waterman :roflmho:

Or maybe a syringe for a veterinary, still of course a Waterman piece....

Looks similar to a leather sewing tool. I wonder how this seller knows it's Waterman, I don't see it marked anywhere ... am I missing it???

Looks to me like a needle for a sewing machine. I don't understand why the seller thinks it's a Waterman's or even a pen for that matter.

I tried several times to ask the seller about the mark, but it won't let me send it.

No no no...Waterman was always ahead of the times...it was experimenting with writing implements way before any PDA, smart phone and iPad came to market...of course you could use this implement on your iPad, a nice vintage writing tool for modern tablets....:eureka:

No no no... It's a vintage 'you are your own ink' pen, very rare. The idea was that you push the nib through your skin and then write with the red liquid that appears, very ingenious and extremely practical. However the pen was discontinued when Waterman discovered there was absolutely no market for it except for a few satanic cults and they realised the use of the pen could be fatal when used in certain areas.

At least that's what I heard.

Looks suspiciously like the needle and holder from an old "shuttle & bobbin" type Singer sewing machine.

I think it's the first "weaponized" pen. That's my pen "thing" of the day. Tactical pens. You can trace the evolution of tactical pens all they back to this device. The hole is for a poison pellet.

LOL. Man, you gotta save them puns for home, because I'd hate to think what would happen if you did that in front of a class.
