Colorado/denver Metro Area Pen Posse

The Colorado Pen Posse's meeting was great fun, and I enjoyed meeting all who were there today! Thanks to our hosts for putting on a great gathering, thanks to Pendleton Brown for making the event even more special, and let's definitely do this again! I took a few photos as well, but will not be able to

post them until tomorrow.

Pendleton was able to smooth and reshape a relatively inexpensive dry and scratchy Laban nib into a perfect medium smooth stubbish delight. I also bought one of his flexed stub italic Rosettas in green acrylic, what a phenomenal writer!

Lots of pens shown by all, some very impressive collections (I brought a little red Esterbrook - everyone smiled at that), and friendly folks who I very much want to see again.

I had a wonderful time yesterday! I met loads of great people and zero non-great people. Lots of pens and inks and a great presentation and demo by Pendleton Brown.

A few pens changed hands and I am sure the pens are happier for it. The ones tha left me were really bored lying in pen case (nice as it is with wood and felt and all) and will be happier with their new owners.

A big THANK YOU to our organizers and all the people who brought edibles and door prizes. I scored a neat pen rest and a Rhodia webbie!

Most of the syringes and needles I brought disappeared so either people are eager to mix inks or they're into something else entirely :)

Hey, those in the back WERE paying attention ;) Great pics! Pendleton's presentation was fantastic. I'm sure Sally's Beauty Supply won't know what hit 'em, but they'll be happy, too.

Thanks to everyone for sharing the pictures so everyone can see how much fun we had thumbup.gif

Not when you took the pic we weren't! Glad there wasn't a quiz afterward! Funny how small the world is - met a coworker there and had no idea we were both into FP's. Also met some geographic neighbors. Having enablers close by is a good thing right?

OK, for those who weren't paying attention (and those who missed it) here is Pendleton Brown's excellent nib smoothing demonstration.

I'll put up Part One now and if there is interest I'll add the other parts as soon as I can get them uploaded.

Our first Pen Posse was a great success!

Thank you to everyone who came and shared their day, their pens and their enthusiasm. It was a lot of fun and it was wonderful to meet all of you. There will be more posses, too, that is now a given, so everyone that didn't make it to this one, and everyone that did, will have a chance to make it to the next one, and the one after that, and the one.....

Thank you for posting the pictures and the great video of Pendleton's mini-tutorial on nib smoothing - looking forward to more pictures (if possible) and more video installments, too!

As promised, here is a link to the photos I took Saturday:

The first three are of the pen Dirk wanted identified, so I will post those to the Forum at large...

Will

Wonderful pics! Was anyone able to offer a clue as to the name/history of Dirk's pen with the plastic feed? I thought it was very interesting, though I have no idea what it is.

Not as yet. I posted a new thread on the Writing Instruments forum, with photos, and so far nobody has identified it. See the "Neat Clear-Section Pen: Id?" thread.

Still hopeful. Thanks for the nice words on the photos!

Sorry. I'm having serious problems getting this uploaded and I've lost too much sleep for now. Will try later.

Dirk's pen is very cool looking. I hope he can get the sac replaced so that he can find out if it writes as nicely as it looks! An ID would be nice, too - I plan to keep a watch on Will's thread to see if someone can tell Dirk - and the rest of us - what it is.

Some housekeeping info:

We started a list of attendees at the meeting on 6/30 so that we can put everyone in an email list. If you are interested in being in the email list, please PM me your name, FPN moniker, email address, and phone number (optional). We'll use the list for future announcements. We plan to schedule another meeting in early to mid-September.

If you were not able to attend our June 30 meeting but still want to be on the list, that's great too.

Thanks everyone!

 • 3 weeks later...

Glad to see the Posse was a success, and its great to hear that there will be more Posses to come! I hope to make it back to Colorado in the near future to join in the fun!

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA
