Finishing off a Musgrave Harvest #1, taking it down from Steinbeck stage to a stub bound for the jar on my desk.

I've settled on the #1 Harvest as my go to pencil, day in and day out. It has just the right combination of darkness and point retention without being too hard. Truly an excellent pencil!

Musgrave recently announced an upgraded #2 Harvest, the Harvest Professional featuring incense cedar slats and an "upgraded core". I'm eagerly awaiting an order of them to see how they stack up to my beloved #1s. I'd love to see the #1 in the incense cedar slats too.

Check out the Harvest Professional and some other cool new pencils at their website.

Love to hear what you think of the upgraded Harvest. I put an order in for the Tennessee Red, the natural look, plus white eraser just was too hard to resist! I have a few Harvest #2's I need to use again, just don't go through pencils as fast as I would like!

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA

I have some Musgrave Harvest #2s that I enjoy. Sent for a sampler package a while back that was a great bargain for the price. The Ceres is good as well, but I'd have to say that the Bugle is my favorite !

The Tennesee Red looks good too ! Did either of you order the box with it ?

Why did the pencil stink?

It was a Number 2.

"how do I know what I think until I write it down?"

I didn't get the cedar box, looks beautiful, but my thoughts were I could get more pencils instead! I love the Bugle too, I have a few of the original and the CW pencil made ones, which other than the paint are exactly the same. They are a great example of an amazing pencil at an affordable price!

Today I picked what I consider a very good deal. A dozen Moonbeams 7855

#2 pencils for the ridiculous price of 49 cents US!

I collect pencils that are made in the USA.

If you'd like to know why, try finding some in any store that you can think of.

They're getting as rare as hens teeth!!

Not a fave but USA Silver woodcased pencils sold at Walmart last time I looked. But USA made is scarce. I have a misc collection of vintage USA made pencils.

The USA gold pencils are made in the same plant as the moonbeams custom printed ones. They also make Try-Rex pencils which I've yet to try.

They are made in the same area as Musgrave pencils. They write nicely, and are good quality pencils. I'm not too concerned with whatever design is on them.

BTW,if you collect vintage American made pencils, would you (or any one else who reads this) be interested in trading?

I got a shipping notice on my order on Friday, so I'm hoping my order arrives before Xmas. I'll be sure to swing back around and let you know what I think.

I finally decided to get around to buying a 2mm steadler drafting lead holder. Always remember loving playing with the one my dad had and the rotary sharpener.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)

Just got my order of Musgrave Tennessee Reds. Yep, they will do quite nicely, smooth lead, beautiful finish, comfortable to hold. Went directly into my shirt pocket indefinitely....
