What Pencil Are You Using Today?

Today I've been using a couple of DOMS Zoom Ultimate Dark Triangle Pencils. They have a great shape and excellent core, but I would prefer that they weren't painted with pastel colors (blue, purple, and pink).

You can get the grey Zoom variant.

These come with an eraser and sharpener in each box of 10. The sharpener in mine are long point sharpeners, which is an extra plus (or maybe two).

Thanks, I have those too and enjoy them as well.

Do you find any difference between the two? I went with the grey, for the colour.

I find that the triangular version is a bit lighter, with a bit more feedback and slightly better point retention.

I also have some DOMS Groove Slim triangle pencils and the core is more like the gray hex Ultimate Darks. The have grooves in them to make them easier to grip and I think right now they may be favorite of the three.

I'm one of the crazy woodcase pencil fans: Palomino Blackwing Natural, extra firm and they are a smooth writer, glides over the paper.

I got a new Pilot OPT in the mail (stripe pattern), and have been using that.

I really enjoy shaker pencils!

Received today 1 box of 12 Blackwing 811 beautiful green limited edition pencils. Dark smooth writer as advertised. Exceptionally dark line used on Moleskine sketchbook. I'll be using these in my journals as well as FPs and everything else I use. After I received this box today I'm already seeing out of stock.

Well.. I'm already seeing these being sold at 3 to 4 times the original retail. Maybe I should sit on this box for awhile.

The grey ZOOM has a slightly darker core. The X1 also has a slightly waxy feel to it as it writes, so I definitely prefer the ZOOM.

I'm also going to backtrack on the Groove Slims. The first one I pulled out seems to be a bit darker than the other three I have tried. Like maybe the first one was between a B and a 2B but the rest are between an HB and a B.

I had a similar feeling, will stick with the ZOOM. thumbup.gif I prefer the grey colour too.

Will try the Groove Slims when I get them off a friend next month.
