Staedtler Lumograph 2B.

Every time I use a Lumograph, I start to wonder why I even have other pencils.

I've been taking a Palomino Blackwing 602 with me when teaching. I find I use the eraser a lot more than the actual pencil!

To de-stress I like to sketch geometric figures, using just a compass and straight-line, then shade in different parts. Pencil is great for that.

Keep thinking that I want to get myself a fancy mechanical pencil, but I can't think of a reason why. I already have a good one, and never use it!

The cheap MP that you're willing to put in your pocket will get way more use than the fancy MP that sits on your desk.

Went back to the Staedtler Lumograph 2B yesterday and today. The lead is just a little too soft for serious writing, but for quick notes, it's awesome.

Today I switched to a Uni- shift in 0.4mm and it has been filled with my favorite Pilot B leads, I really like the 0.4 leads size I wish there were more pencils that used it.

Too true. I find that I prefer wooden pencils more than mechanical ones, but admire the technical aesthete of rotrings and other lead holders. But I have a nice, simple Staedler mechanical pencil that never gets any use because I always have a Blackwing on hand.

For me, nothing beats wooden pencils. Just switched over to a MItsubishi 9800 B. I really like the smoothness of the graphite. The green finish is also superb. It's a very nice model. I've never met one with a misaligned core.

I only have one pencil in 0.4, the Pilot s10 (I bought the whole set: .3, .4, .5, .7, and .9).

Turns out that both .4 and .3 work perfect for me. With .5 I have to make my numbers a little larger than I like and .7 is just a disaster. .9 actually works well since I can rotate the pencil whilst writing to always have an edge on the paper.

The only thing keeping me from using more .4 is that I have a bunch of .3 leads and pencils already. If I ever lose my collection, perhaps I'll go with .4 instead since the .4 leads last a bit longer than the .3.

In my thin lead selection I currently have (7) 0.4mm - (22) 0.3mm - (5) 0.2mm pencils. I am afraid to count the 0.5 ones I have

For most things I seem to grab one of the 0.4's it seems.

Daiso's "Plastic" pencil that I think feels like the Staedler Wopex and a USA Gold :cloud9:

I also have a couple Dixon golf pencils and Ticonderoga in my work pants for later.

Lee Valley 2H, 2B wooden pencils are in hand today. Find the lead to be smooth and not gritty clay which helps in writing or placing template on wood for carving (2B). The 2H does not smear in agenda.

Pelikan Auch, sometimes one of my Pelikan 450 in green or tortoise. I however am going through a lot of leads and they're not cheap.

General's Cedar Point 2HB is being rotated into my work pencil selection, the Caran D'Ache yellow school pencil is given a break from the travails of a four month research field season.

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Please PM me!For Sale: TBA

I almost always use Staedtler Noris pencils because they are so smooth to write with. I also like General's Semi Hex pencils from the US. They come in the most wonderful box, leave a nice dark line and are the last traditional pencil makers in the US.
