Huge difference!

I only used them in my 'better' mechanical pencils, like the Lamy 2000 pencils, and in HB and 2B grades of lead.

I took a break from wooden pencils this weekend and pulled out some lead holders. The Staedtler Mars Technico 780 is a real treat to use. It was the first lead holder I ever purchased and even though I've picked up half a dozen or so other lead holders over the years, the Staedtler is still my favorite.

  • 2 weeks later...

I'm using the Palomino Golden Bear no. 2 made in the US by Musgrave. I like the orange coating and the blue eraser. And the graphite is really enjoyable.

Today I used a General's Cedar Pointe #2 for most of the day.

Today I used a Tombow ZOOM 505 sh. It is a strange variant... as the clip has a notched taper to it that I do not see in photos of today's examples, nor in some earlier models (with ZOOM on the cap, instead of the dragonfly).

Anyway, these are very inexpensive for the quality you get. I'm pretty impressed by it.

(NOTE: Not my photo. Mine is exactly same as the MP on the left).

I have a Zoom 505 FP since a few years. Didn't know they also had a MP. Not interested in RB.

I'm using a kind of generic MEC HB pencil, that happens to write incredibly smooth. It's almost scary how close it comes to my 6B Eberhard Faber Van Dyke. It's of course not as smooth as that, but we are comparing a 6B and an HB here. Point is, it writes very smooth.post-113824-0-41135500-1472851338_thumb.jpg
