USA made Prismacolor Turquoise HB. Feels more like an H, but it's still quite useable for note taking. Keeps its point forever.

Staetdler Mars Technico w/ 2B lead.

Yesterday I used the Staedtler Mars Technico 2mm lead holder with 2H lead. It's a harder lead than I normally use, but it was a meeting day and I didn't want to have to worry about sharpening the lead. The lead writes lighter than is my normal preference, but other than that, it's great. The Staedtler 2H lead somehow manages to not feel scratchy like other 2H leads I've used.

Today I'll go back to HB. I'll probably use my Alvin lead holder just for a change of pace. The Staedtler is my favorite, but I like to change it up every now and then.

When I went to art school (Parsons), Rotring and Staedtler pencils were always in my toolbox. The Rotring pencils are really nice as well. I've always liked 2mm leads for writing as well as for general drawing.

My wife bought me a Pentel 120 A3 in 0.9mm (the big brother of the 120 A3 in 0.3mm that I got 20 years ago...still one of my favorites). That's the pencil I will be using today.

I was surprised at how rubbery the grip is. The grip on my 20-year old pencil has lost all rubberiness and feels like plastic. I guess that's what 20 years of finger grease does to rubber.

I am using Nataraj Platinum Extra Dark 2B pencil today. I love how I don't have to use lots of pressure to get a nice, dark line.

It is really good if I am switching between pencil and FP a lot in one day.

I'm not in a position to take pics of my own, but if you google for "pentel 120 a3" or "pentel 120 a3dx" you'll get plenty of stock photos. My 0.3mm is the red one. My 0.9mm is the mustard yellow one.

Faber Castell E-motion

Oh, I have one of those too. I bought it to match with my fountain pen. The body shape, weight, feel in the hand and twist mechanism are all awesome, but that 1.4 lead.... ugh.. I just wish they would make a 0.5 version of it...

Comfortmate Ultra - Seriously this thing writes so well. I never use the eraser on the back since I carry my own pentel eraser, but I can write for hours straight and never have to remove a single finger from my pencil.

To this I agree, knowing Faber Castell would be 0.7 mm. Since I use 2.0 mm lead holders (old drafting style) have used a lead pointer and rotate as writing not a real problem. Would not use for accounting while trying to stay within the lines :-)

Do find the 1.4 B to be excellent to mark on cabinets (even outdoor enclosures for microwave equipment), or say fan belt sizes etc.

For some reason I've been feeling nostalgic for the disposable pens and pencils I used in high school. Today I picked up a pack of Papermate Sharpwriters from Walgreens, and have really enjoyed the cushioned feeling of this pencil. I'd probably bring them back into regular rotation if they were refillable. For now I'll just enjoy the four I have.

I have just finished reading all 47 pages and it was a great. I am glad some many people replied to What Pencil Are You Using Today. Today I am using a Dixon Ticonderoga HB2 and Staedtler Norica HB2. I have noticed that the quality of the Ticonderoga pencils has gone down. The lead is not consistent. I use only 2HB pencils but some times it is softer and crumbles. Has anyone noticed this?

heck to see if the Ticonderoga are from Mexico. Seems the lead is harder/more brittle than other (China?) made versions of the pencil.
