At work my trusty Pentel P205 is always floating somewhere on my desk.

Couple nights ago I was playing an adventure game on my computer. One of the ones (Year Walk--new publication, but a bit old-school) that rewards note-taking. Field Notes right there! Searching around, I grabbed my silver Rotring 600 0.5 mm. So nice. I've been on an FP jag recently after cough a bit of mechanical pencil acquisition disorder. Now I want to go back to pencil again! Had my eye on an Ecridor Retro for ages . . .

Today I'm using an Eberhard Faber Van Dyke 601 #2, the cousin to the famous Blackwing 602. Truth be told, I like it better than I do the 602.

"No one can be a great thinker who does not recognize that as a thinker it is his first duty to follow his intellect to whatever conclusions it may lead. Truth gains more even by the errors of one who, with due study, and preparation, thinks for himself, than by the true opinions of those who only hold them because they do not suffer themselves to think." -J.S. Mill, On Liberty

Tombow Zoom 505 in blue with Tombow Mono 0.5mm "B" lead. I love this pencil, I just wish that the eraser was more accessible (and not just an over glorified lead stopper).

  • 3 weeks later...

I've been sketching with my new Lamy Scribble. It has 4B graphite and the lead is 3.1mm. I like a slightly thicker pencil for sketching and I'm finding this is working better than my usual 2mm mechanical pencils. I may have a new favorite on my hands. :)

I LOVE the Pilot S20

Have you tried the S10?

I love the S10 because it's so bottom heavy. Is the S20 also bottom heavy?

No, I haven't tried the S10, but I find S20 really well balanced with a comfortable weight. With that metal grip section, I can imagine the S10 to be bottom heavy.
