Today I'm writing with a Caran d'Ache Swiss Wood 348 HB. It's nice :)

"No one can be a great thinker who does not recognize that as a thinker it is his first duty to follow his intellect to whatever conclusions it may lead. Truth gains more even by the errors of one who, with due study, and preparation, thinks for himself, than by the true opinions of those who only hold them because they do not suffer themselves to think." -J.S. 0.5mm Pentel Sharp Kerry with the stock HB lead and a Staedtler Norica today :)

Here to help when I know, learn when I don't, and pass on the information to anyone I can :)

  • 2 weeks later...

I've been using my Rotring 300 2mm lead holder almost exclusively for the last week or so. I'm down to the last two centimeters of original lead and I'm motivated to use it up.

Once I've used up that stick of lead, I'll go back to my regular rotation of mechanical pencils and lead holders.

Two woodies, Blackwing 602 and Tombow Mono 2B.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

The cashier at Staples gave me a pencil called a Metrix 0.7.

It's very nice, but no idea where it was made.

I've been using it all day.

From the images I found, it looks very much like the Pentel Sharp drafting pencil. If they did a good job, it could be an excellent pencil.

Just got some 0.9mm B grade lead for one of my Parker pencils, a Vacumatic barrel/51 cap hybrid, so I imagine I'll be doing some sketching today. :D

I just switched over from using Palomino Blackwing 602s to a Mitsubishi Hi-Uni B2. I could not be more happier. The Hi-Uni lead is buttery smooth and a tad bit darker.

I've been messing around with a Kuru Toga Roulette the last few days. Where have you been all my life? I typically prefer a thicker line, so I'm not in the habit of manually rotating my pencil to compensate for wear, but this auto rotation has spoiled me. Definitely my go-to now for longer period writing sessions where pencil is called for.

Picked up a Rapid Pro 0.5 to be a tougher, retractable tip alternative to the Kuru Toga. Plastic grip/barrel joint aside, it's a solid piece of work.

Now, then...who do I have to kill to get a KT/Rotring collab going. Full metal body, auto rotation, retractable tip. I don't care how you do it, just make it work.

Zebra M-301 0.5mm, haven't gotten around to getting me high end pencil like a Rotring 600/800/rapid pro or a TWSBI but the Zebra is pretty robust for how inexpensive it is and it works pretty well. Only thing I don't like is the lead guide is retractable, I prefer fixed drafting guides.

Don't mind me, I like to ramble... A LOT

I have one of these in my sketch kit! It's been there and been used for 10+ years, so it's safe to say it's there to stay. :D
