I used to hate wood pencils and so I have several mechanical and multis. I started doodling again and found that a wood pencil is pretty good for that. I bought a couple of packs of "The New Black" pencils for very little compared to the designer wood pencils I have seen. I like the sayings stamped on them.

Beautiful pencils.

Besides, just hating one thing or other is not quite a good idea; we tend to like what we had hated yesterday ... just saying ... roflmho.gifroflmho.gif

I still hate wood pencils for writing though. Maybe hate is too strong of a word. More like strongly dislike, all in caps.

I'm waiting for my Lamy .7mm Scribble to arrive. I liked the looks of a lot of the thicker lead mechanicals, but it seems all the lead available

is softer than I like. I can get my H2 in .7mm, plus its a cool looking pencil.

A gray Parker 45 .7mm. I got it cheap with a bundle as its clip was bent out at bit. It is still functionally sound and stays well in the coffee cup at my desk, ready at a moment's notice!

I got my Rotring 600 0.5mm in black a month ago, it's my best pencil yet. I like its nice balance and weight. It has the sturdy, technical but simple look. It's quite neat.

Also, I use Uni-ball KURU TOGA 0.5mm 1st gen in black. Despite it's a lot lighter (I prefer pens with a bit weight), I love its sharpness and its auto-rotate engine.

.3mm Alvin Draftmatic. I bought it several years ago when my hyaku-en store (equivalent of a dollar store) .3mm pencil my home-stay host gave me (for practicing Kanji, nothing beats a .3mm lead!) finally gave out. It's nice and heavy and bottom weighted, with a nice grip, making it pretty much the only pencil I ever use.

Rotring pencil you mentioned is actually quite good-looking, I have never seen it before.thumbup.gif

Kurutoga is too light, in my opinion.

What is a Kanji? An example, if possible.embarrassed_smile.gif

Kanji is one of the three writing systems in Japan. Each character can be anywhaere from 3 to 20 penstrokes. You can see kanji at www.kanjisite.com
