My journaling for today (or part of it) will be done with a Staedtler Norica. It'll have its work cut out for it- I missed a week of entries so I have twelve pages to write tonight...

Here to help when I know, learn when I don't, and pass on the information to anyone I can :)

Generals Cedar Pointe 2HB. I think this may be my favorite pencil of all time.

I have been wanting a Montblanc mechanical though and may get one at some point.

Pentel Graph 1000 0.9mm and 0.4mm, both using 2B Uni Nano Dia leads, and Lyra Art Design 7B and 9B lead grades...

An absolute joy to use for any task!

I bought the Pentel because I read somewhere that it have completely brass body, but it isn't the case. It was kind of of a letdown in that regard, but the overall experience drafting and sketching with it are awesome. Since it's body is plastic, the weight leans towards the brass tip, making it lighter at the back, an ideal balance for drafting.

Nice pencil, Bernardo.

Are they expensive?

Hi,

It's crazy as I've compounded my fountain pen addiction w/ dip nibs, and now realize I need a good pencil for planning/sketching as well?

Is there an advantage to 5.6mm clutch holders vs 2mm? I was thinking of Koh-inoor 5.6 or Kaweko?

Staedler or Fabercastle seem to be very popular for 2mm...

I guess I need an eraser as well :)'

The size of the lead determines the width of your strokes, especially when laid by the side of the point. The larger diameter also allows for more side pressure (i.e.: heavier strokes) against the paper without breaking the lead as easily. If you want big, bold strokes, go for the 5.6 mm, but you'll eventually want *all* the lead sizes from 5.6 down to 0.2 mm. Oh, and you'll want *all* the lead grades you can find; 2 mm is easiest in that area.

I speak from experience here. :-)

^Lol. Another collector of all the sizes. >_>

I was unable to find any really good pencils on my recent antique mall adventure. So I'm sticking with the Parker Duofold and Vacumatic pencils I got with pen counterparts recently.
