What Pencil Are You Using Today?

My Rotring Rapid Pro 0.5mm arrived today so I've been playing with it and comparing it to my current pencils.

The comparison is kind of hard since most of my pencils are 0.3mm, but the Rapid Pro doesn't come in 0.3, so I got the 0.5mm instead. One thing is for certain, this thing is the heaviest pencil I've got.

The retractable lead sleeve should make it safer to carry around than my other pencils with their fixed sleeves. I was nervous that the retractable sleeve would give the lead some wobbliness, but I haven't noticed any. So far I'm quite pleased.

Ticonderoga number two :P

'The Yo-Yo maneuver is very difficult to explain. It was first perfected by the well-known Chinese fighter pilot Yo-Yo Noritake. He also found it difficult to explain, being quite devoid of English.

So we left it at that. He showed us the maneuver after a sort. B*****d stole my kill.'

Today I used the Alvin Draftmatic in 0.3mm...it's the last of my favorites still using HB, so I'm trying to use it up so that I can load it with 2B.

Usually vintage wooden drawing pencils for quick notes and sketches: Eagle No 1, Dixon Ticonderoga H, Eagle Turquoise 5B, depends on the mood. Always sharpened to perfection.

Today I used a vintage silver Yard-o-Led mechanical pencil and the stub of a no-name promotional pencil in a Steadtler 900 25 pencil holder.

Mitsu-Bishi Hi-uni F. It's sharpened regularly with a Kum brass sharpener or a Staedtler, depending on where I am at the time. When it gets too short for comfort it goes into a Rosetta acrylic pencil holder.

Also in the desk pot and the work wrap are Tombow Mono 100 F and Faber Castell 9000 HB. In handy places about the house are Staedtler Wopex HB pencils which have a pleasant heft about them. They produce a long continuous shaving when you sharpen them, which is more fun that it should be.
