What Pencil Are You Using Today?

The one black in the upside is a Dixon triconderoga.

The last one light blue in the low side is a french pencil.

The third from down to up, with 2 points says "The Ritz" I have been in Paris but never in the Ritz

(to cheap for me lol) but in the Louisianne yes.

I hope some day Isellpens or Peyton sell black wings palominos pencils, Jetpens has it but I dont know why

they dont accept money orders. Greetings.fpn_1361923088__img_0069_copy.jpg

I prefer 2mm lead holders. What I like about them is that you can have a very sharp, fine point or a soft, broad point. In that regard, they are similar to a wood pencil, but have the convenience of more modern mechanical pencils. My favorite pencil has always been the Staedtler Mars Technico 780 C. I bought mine in 1999. I've used it everyday since and it still works like new. It has a built in sharpener that I only recently discovered. I just bought a E+M X-change in oak. The wood feels nice. I loaded some 2mm red lead in it. So far so good.

I also purchased a Staedtler Mars 780 shortly after 1999. Used it for shading in pencil drawings. Never knew it had a built in sharpener. I used the old drafting trick of using fine sandpaper to put a point on the lead. I prefer the 4b lead for print handwriting practice. Would like 8b lead but haven't been able to find 2mm leads in the 8b softness anywhere. When I want to use a 8b pencil I use a Faber Castell 9000 wooden pencil.

Just leaded my pipe stem using a 3/4 used HB Royal Sovereign about 70 years old, that I found in a box.

Did the crossword this morning (as I do each morning) with my golden brown striated Sheaffer Lifetime 300 pencil. I got it eleven years ago in a mismatched set with a Valiant 875 vac fill. The Valiant was sold many years ago, but the pencil still sees daily use.

The only pencils that I've played with today are these three Pentel Sharp Kerrys. The black and blue ones are new, the brown is about 30 years old and kind of beat up. Black is .7mm and the other two are .5mm.

Uni Kuru Toga, the pencil I keep on me at all times.

Those are great MP's, Bill. Pentel really did a fine design job with them. Even Dave of "Dave's Mechanical Pencils" rates them highly.

The Carene is such a beautiful pen, especially with the metal cap. Konis, does the little lead sleeve on the mechanical pencil retract inside the tip when done?

I appreciate mechanical pencils quite a lot. They have such versatility. But, my work doesn't require them, so I just play with them from time to time. Despite that, I've got quite a collection. I may have to sell off some of them down the road (some are rare and would pair well with fountain pens of the same design).

Anyway, I tend to use metal striped MP's by Pilot. They're very thin, so they're not exactly the best ergonomically, but I love their look, solid build quality, and performance.

Switched today to Faber-Castell E-Motion. Great pencil; light, not too thick, not too thin, smooth mechanism and cool design. It takes 1.4 mm leads.

podrías decirnos donde lo compraste?

My wife bought it in Houston, Texas (Dromgoole's) but I think you can order it form Faber-Castell México. Also, I've seen F-C products at Sanborn's and Office Depot in Mexico City.
