Back sooner than anticipated with a very special ink. The Montblanc Salzburger Festspiele ink that Montblanc was giving away at the Salzburg Festival. It's a very beautiful and well behaved ink. I first saw it on Stephen Brown's Inkcyclopedia review and later got my hand on a sample. I have no idea how it was packaged and I've asked Stephen if he had any information.

Here it is with comparisons to the Montblanc Diamond Blue and Balzac Dandy Turquiose inks.

Water resistance is a bit disappointing. It leaves a very faint hardly legible line.

Water resistance test done by keeping the page dry for a couple of hours then putting it under running water for five minutes.

The blue has excellent water resistance, barely any noticeable effect of water on it. The black has good water resistance, but some of it runs with water.

Thank you Darius. I really like the shade of blue!

It is a nice blue. However, I found that it takes more than the usual effort to flush it out. It also lest a residue on the walls of the container I was using to flush the pen, which makes me think that it is a pigment based ink rather than a dye based one. So, I will use it with caution and a higher level of maintainance.

Very nice report... Not sure if I'm all that hot about the water irresistance of the black, though. I have both, like both, but that difference between blue and black -- as regards "permanence" -- looks like it's not worth paying 70% more than usual...

More Montblan inks, the new non-ironall Midnight Blue and the limited edition Leonardo da Vinci from the Great Characters series.

The new Midnight Blue:

Water resistence test for the two inks along with the similar inks previously released:

The Leonardo completely washed away after 5 minutes under running water. However, the new Midnight Blue wasn't bad. It left a clearly legible line after 5 minutes under water.

The non-iron-gall midnight blue does just fine under water - I am impressed! From this I would say similar performance to Pelikan 4001 Blue Black in that respect. How do they do it?

Thank you, Darius, for this update.

I am no longer very active on FPN but feel free to message me. Or send me a postal letter!

The first special ink for 2014. The Meisterstuck 90 Years Permanent Grey.

I had this ink for a couple of weeks now. It's quite a nice ink and I enjoyed using it.

I heard that it will become part of the regular production inks, but for now, it comes in the 35ml bottles that the Writers Edition inks come in. The special label reminiscent of the old packaging as it's advertised.

The other Montblanc greys are at the end of the sheet for comparison.

Water resistance is excellent. The sheet below was left to dry and then kept under running water for 5 minutes. The recently released permanent inks are included for comparison.

Does anybody still have the pictures? The imageshack links have already expired and this thread is so highly praised... I want to see them so badly! :)

I got from Darius posts the photos of Burgundy/Bordeaux, pre-2010 and post-2010. Sorry I can't help more. Perhaps Darius himself is still around...

Thank you very much! His profile page states that he logged in one week ago, so perhaps I can send him a private message and see if he still has these photos.
