Here are some results from fade tests on Montblanc ink. Thanks to GeoDuc for creating them.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thank you for everyone's kind words. I'm glad that this was found to be helpful in some way.

Here I am only 6 years later posting to your review... Jeez!

Having been away from my FP's and my staple MB Blue Black ink for almost 20 years... Holy Smokes have things gotten interesting!

Many thanks for your efforts! You have enlightened this soul on an entirely new horizon of choices.

I use Montblanc Irish Green and Alfred Hitchcock every day. Very nice inks. It is getting harder and harder to find Alfred Hitchcock ink these days and I only have 4 bottles in my stockpile. I also like Caran D'Ache Saffron and I am buying as many bottles as I can find to keep in my stockpile. Only problem is, I am not sure how long I can keep inks in stockpile. I think as long as I keep them unopened, they should be fine.

Hi all.

An overdue update of the MB inks.

Since the Meisterstuck Diamond Blue, there has been four new limited edition inks.

Winter Glow:

Same 30ml bottles of the "Ink of" series, the Hitchcock and Diamond Blue, and also in cartridges with 8cartridges/pack. Released in winter of 2012.

2012 Writers Edition Jonathan Swift "Seaweed Green":

Same 35ml bottles as the Collodi.

2012 Great Characters Albert Einstein "Grey":

Same 30ml bottles as the Hitchcock, Diamond Blue, etc.

2013 Writers Edition Honore de Balzac "Dandy Turquoise":

Same 35ml bottles as the previous two Writers Editions inks.

Water resistance test on the four inks:

The Balzac is completely gone. The Winter Glow leaves a faint legible line. The Swift and Einstein leave a clear legible line.

I added the four new inks in the previous overview of all the MB inks in their appropriate places.

Next ink, as far as I know is going to be the Great Characters Leonardo da Vinci Sepia Brown.

Thanks for the update, Darius. It's a wonderful resource, so helpful and well organized. Geoduc's test is also nicely done and very helpful.

I've been using Honoré de Balzac Dandy Turquoise and enjoying it very much. I do see green in it but agree it's more blue than green. I like the texture and colours of the MB inks I have: Royal Blue, Irish Green, Mystery Black and Dandy Turquoise. I had Diamond Blue but used it all up. Very attractive. Midnight Blue I find a bit dry in my pens and reserve for document signing. That happens about once every ten years. :D

Happiness is a real Montblanc...

Hi Joane.

You're likely right about the green in the Balzac, but I can't see it.

The Diamond Blue is a really good ink. Beautiful colour, good properties, even a bit of water resistance. It's one of the better inks out there. I didn't find in strange that it was very popular and sold out quickly in many places.

Thanks Amber.

While I was doing these new ones, I realised that I have lost my original Diamond Blue page. So I wrote it again using the scan I had saved online. The new scan, I think, represents the colour better. So I'll include it here.

Thank you for your kind words.

There are some new developments in the MB ink department. I will try to update this thread as soon as I get some of the new inks.

What an amazing thread - thank you Darius. I've been away from the forum for a while (long story) and this is the first thread I saw - I have such a soft spot for MB ink - I have many of the older ones but not many of the newer ones.

Brilliant review Darius, I was wondering if if you could do one with MB Racing Green and Jonathon Swift side by side? Don't know if its just me (probably) but I can't seem to find a comparison on FPN?

Fountain pens are like weapons. They just make your pocket bleed so much.

At the bottom of the Swift page, there's a comparison with the Racing Green and Irish Green. However, the Racing Green was running wet and appears almost black, which is its usual behaviour, but in a drier pen, it appears as a darker version on the Swift, as can be seen on the overview page.
