Blood-Red Inks?

My favorite red is Diamine Oxblood, probably because it is dark rather than bright. I like earth tones, but red pepper red is not one.

I'm enjoying Oxblood with a small amount of Skrip Red added to it, to tilt it away from brown--or perhaps to backtrack closer to the commission of the crime? It probably amounts to some other available red, but until I find it, this will do.

I was thinking of mixing some Oxblood with some Antietam, for the same purposes. ("He's only *mostly* dead"?) How do I know if they'll react in the pen and cause clogs or other Bad Things, being different brands?

Just mix them in a vial and wait a day or two before putting it in a pen. If it will do nasty stuff in the pen, it'll do it in the vial, so you should be able to see any problems before the new frankenink goes in your pen.

I decided that Cayenne by Noodler's is more of a dead match (heh) to dried blood than even Antietam. The latter really looks like freshly spilled gore when it first hits the paper but as it dries it looks less realistic. Cayenne keeps on looking like you just gashed yourself to write a chippy little note to a friend. I used Cayenne a lot at Halloween.
