I prefer elegant pens in just about any material (although sterling silver is a particular favourite), but deplore overly ornate pens. That leaves out many Italian pens, that look like they were conceived in some drunken rococo brainstorming session and would have done Liberace's hope chest proud.

Not saying you can't find simple elegant Italian pens - I own and enjoy using several Auroras, for instance. But some of the German pens have more general appeal - I have sterling and vermeil MB 146 versions that delight me.

@___@ I wonder who actually bought the Stallone.. it's like a overly ornate Jinhao with 200x the price

I opened a box of cheerios and planted them. I thought they were doughnut seeds. They didn't sprout :( (joke of the week)

I'm inexplicably drawn to this one. What's it called and is it still in production?

I just purchased one but with a clip. It's a Nakaya Piccolo. Beautiful pen though it is neither Italian or German! I lean heavily towards the Japanese pens. :)

One of my guitars has a "flaw" in it. I think of it as a beauty mark.

Beautiful guitar!

In terms of pens, I know many have posted quite lovely, and expensive pens. And I totally agree with a lot of posts here. Beautiful, just beautiful. I like the Sonnet for it's simple and down-to-earth'ness.
