What Is The Best Looking Fountain Pen

I'm trying desperately not to call up John and ask him whether one of these could be made in Neo-Standard style.

Stop it. Stop it now.

I asked back in August or July if they could make a Desk Pen like this. The answer was... yes.

*Backs away with hands up* (It's not me. It's not me.)

P.S. You are not mad.

Lisa, you should see if you can send that pen back - it has some serious flaws in the finish! Really now, with pricey pens like that you'd think they could get all the little details in order.

*Laughing out loud!*

Hey! I paid extra for those flaws! Those flaws are PERFECT!

For me, the only pen that's ever made me think "wow, should I?" for weeks on end is Bruce Boone's puzzle pen. A truly stunning looker.post-49363-0-25888000-1330809530.jpg

I was starting to discover Pelikan when I saw http://www.pelikan.com/pulse/__v064/vfs-public/exclusive/products/souveraen/aubergine-transparent/souveraen-m-625-normal.png. Now I must have it *drool*

They aren't flaws, they are inclusions.

I like the rustic look of the Visconti Homo sapiens more than the elegance of a Mont Blanc 149. Celluloid pens have always been pretty to me.

While I think my elegant 149 lovely, Jeff, I have to say I'd love a Homo Sapiens; it is beautiful in its rustic simplicity. Maybe if I save for a year or 5.

Despite the beauty of the aforementioned, the most beautiful pens I have ever seen are urushi lacquered and the most beautiful of those is one of the latest additions to Namiki's Emperor line - Cranes. If I were to win the Lottery, I would call John Mottishaw shortly threafter so I could not only own one but also ask for his advice on what would be the absolute perfect nib for me.

A gorgeous pen

YMMV,

I've always enjoyed the classic clean lines of the MB Meisterstucks. For me, it's the quintessential fountain pen.

I have a couple of Pelikans, but they aren't on my MUST have list. This, however, is one of those pens that make me go "Hmmmmm" and makes my credit cards hide away.

It's strictly in the eye of the beholder.

This question really cannot be "truly" answered without perhaps hurting (or diminishing) someone's sensibilities.

There is no accounting for taste.

I tend to be attracted to the simplicity of uniform-coloured pens..... be they of modern cast resins,....flake/swirled/marbled acrylics, or plain/textured urushi-coated instruments. But mostly dark...

For me, metal is only appropriate, if it's in the nib & limited to tasteful small amounts in FP furniture.

My interests lean to the East, but I'm open to any pen manufacturer (from almost anywhere), who above all, makes a reliable product, & backs it up by readily available spare parts & reliable service.

Respectfully submitted:

My choice (from the current herd): OMAS 360 old style, followed by Pilot M90, Danitrio Densho and Autora 88 Nicargenta. You can probably guess my bias.

The Nakaya Makie SUMI Decapod 'gold' version. Sheer perfection in simplicity! This is true beauty... no makeup (if you know what I mean... precious stones or other sorts of gimmicks like over-sized clips).

You are an evil, evil person. I looked at that pen and now I placed an order. Expect an invoice by mail soon.

What is the $27k Montblanc in the OP post called again?

Oh, and doesn't anyone love the White Tortoises, or the M1000 Radens?

It is a John Lennon limited edition 70.

Kind regards

Jay
