So, Has Anyone's Twsbi Not Broken?

The TWSBI Diamond Mini I received from my wife for our 16th wedding anniversary last year has seen periods of daily use as well as daily carry to work and back and is no worse for wear at the moment. After 11 months with it, I felt confident enough to purchase the 580USA model. So far, so good.

That is not to say that cracking issues do not exist, of course. But, from what I have gathered from sources like Goulet Pens, TWSBI are addressing that issue and working to improve the durability of their pens. I assume there is a delicate balancing act in trying to keep costs down while putting out a pen that has few issues while still maximizing profits. As it stands, while these teething troubles are being worked out, TWSBI are standing behind their products 100%. I can't ask for much more than that with a fairly new company and the price point they offer.

If I could change one thing about TWSBI that was instantly resolved, it would be the cracking issues others have experienced. A close second would be a nib in XXF as those German extra fines are just a bit too large for my liking. Other than that, I am completely satisfied with my TWSBI purchases to date.

My 700 broke on me about a week ago. I turned the blind cap to withdraw the piston, the piston assembly entirely came out and dumped a load of Noodlers Black Eel on my pants. The blind cap had been sticky, but I had lubed the threads the week before. No reason it would stick and disassemble.

Good evening.................................................

Used for a year no problem, then the blind cap started sticking, and even after lubrication had the result I mention.

That's wierd. Did the filler collar to blind cap threads get cross threaded? Trying to visualise how this happened.

Doesn't appear to have, the threads are still crisp and the blind cap sits flat and seals.

Both my 540s in Amber and blue developed broken barrels. But Philip was great about sending me replacements immediately.

My Vac 700 is here and has been in constant use. I love it, so far. I'll update how is does over the months.

My USA 580 has been going strong, but now with the AL version releases, I've been tempted to see about switching out one of the silver aluminum piston mechanisms because, well, I can and I think it will look neat. But yeah, it still works great!

I have had two TWISBI's, the first one, of the regular size, part of the section broke and it could no longer be attached to the rest of the pen! The second pen a TWISBI Mini, just yesterday, the top of the cap with the clip sheared off, when I went to use it!

In the past I had considered some of their other pens, but as they appear to be less reliable than some of my 40 years plus vintage pens I shall not bother.

My 580 is good but it is pretty new.

I wish I didn't have to post this because the pen is so beautiful and I like it a lot. After a few days getting my first twsbi (a mini classic), it seems like there's a micro crack at the feed holder (between the metal band and nib). The ink stained my finger and keeps coming out after wiping with a paper towel. After several email exchange with Rebecca from twsbi, I believe they are in the process of sending me a new feeder holder.

I would really like to see pics of these broken pens, so I know what to expect on my TWSBI's in the future.

I have 6 TWSBI's and I have not had any problems with any of them...Once I had a question about one of my TWSBI's and Philip at TWSBI helped me out over the telephone...

I've had my Vac 700 for a year today, and it's still going strong! This is after several months of being carried around in bags, pockets and on my lanyard and being exposed to various hospital hazards, so it's definitely got my vote of confidence. My 580 is fine too, although I don't take that one anywhere quite as demanding!

I have a 530 that has had a bit of ink creep, not enough to bother me yet and understandable considering it has not had the gentlest of lives.

From what I understand, nib creep is usually caused by the ink :)
