Friction Fit Nibs

I have a question about fitting friction fit feeds and nibs back in place. At the moment all of my pens with where friction fit, i simply could place back by hand. Now i have 2 pens where i can't get the nib and feed into place by hand.

How does a pro does this, with tools does he use? How can i diy approach this without damaging feed and nib? I have some kind of workshop at hand at home.

Suggestions welcome!

What kind of pens are they? How did you extract the nib and feed?

Sometime ago, someone here posted a b&w picture of a repairman using a bench top vice, with padded grips. The nib, and feed were put into this clamp, and tightened down, and the section attached to the barrel, was knocked onto the nib/feed. I can't find that picture now.

And here's the link with the picture of the tool I mentioned above:

Setting a nib/feed into a section

The above tool was for sale on Peter Twydle's website, but is not there anymore.

Hope this helps.

build something myself with some scrap laying around. Need to say that this is the best tool as for i've made for fp repair. It is a great help to place in friction fit feed/nibs into place.

First version without a nut in between was difficult to place the wig when holding the nib/feed. With the nut, there is some easy space to place the wig between the legs.

Leather is a good thing for these things, i didn't know.

Paul thanks again for the wonderful tip! :notworthy1:

You're very welcome, crabe191, I'm glad I could help. And thank you for posting those great pictures!

When I see work like yours, I wish I had the talent to be able to make my own tools. Great job
