Wow, MN... wow!

Gee, no wonder you're over the moon about this pen! It is GORGEOUS!

I love that little clip and the band -- oh, that's the rolling stopper. More like heart-stopper! Heart-stoppingly beautiful!

Congratulations. I see that the wait was well worth it. Hooray!

Interesting difference in the section shape from rhk's pen.

Thank you Lisa, I can safely say I'm completely besotted. The wait and expense were well well well worth it. I just wish the nipple and clip perfectly aligned! :gaah:

Hari, now that you come to mention it... I wonder if it has anything to do with how we hold our pens. When filling out the order form we were asked to identify where on the section our fingers rested during normal writing. I stated right at the edge near the nib; perhaps rhk holds it further back...

Congrats! That is one stunner of a pen.....maybe, just maybe one will be in my future:)!

SEND IT BACK!

I'm kidding. They probably aren't supposed to align perfectly, so that the pen won't roll. That's what I would tell myself.

And I would believe me.

I think you may be correct about them not lining up perfectly. This would be a more effective roll stopper.

That's a gorgeous pen, mongrelnomad. I love the combination of functionality and beauty. The roll stopper on the pen body is an excellent feature, as well.

And that sepia ink, wow! I hope that you purchased multiple bottles.

Can we please have a closeup photo of the nib when you get a chance?

Lisa - I keep telling myself that, and you know what? It's working!

Geoduc - as you wish, here's a pic of the nib. I bought two bottles of the sepia ink - mine is the light shade. Seems there's also a darker shade too. How convenient that I forgot to buy a Hakase pen pouch with the pen :P

  • 2 weeks later...

So I just ordered a Hakase (buffalo horn, nipple, teardrop clip, F-nib). I have to wait 10 months and it will cost... rather a lot.

Tell me I'm not mad, because the buyer's remorse is kicking in big time!

A ten month wait??? Wow, that's discipline. I complain when I have to wait ten days for delivery.

Na... just very rich in stupidity

Anyway, here it is - the middle one. The left is an example of the pen I already have, the right the smaller size.

The photograph's courtesy of the always obliging Mr. Yamamoto of Hakase pens.

That middle one caught my eye, too, when I was perusing their site. Does the wood get an urushi coating? And I can't tell from the picture but does yours have the buffalo horn end caps? Gorgeous. Congratulations!

"May" as in you're not sure? Really?

Or "may" as in maximum deniability if confronted?

Either way, I'm sure you will be very happy.

There's some kind of clear varnish on it; may be clear urushi, but I can't be sure.

As to the horn end-caps: Mr. Yamamoto was kind enough to send me a photo of a similar ebonite pen with the inlay, as well as the wood cap-tops unembellished. I chose the simpler finish.

It was quite a difficult process choosing the wood - here's another photo: 1,4 - ebony; 2,5 - rosewood; 3,6 Cocobolo. In the end I went for the Rosewood as it seemed to have the most texture.

Maybe. Surely. Deny deny deny. Any and all of the above.

(Though these all may just be arguments for my wife to have me committed. :P )
