Lamy Vista

I've bought three four, I think. Two are lost, and one is my wife's.

In my opinion, there is astonishingly little difference in writing performance between the Lamy Safari medium (or Vista) and any much-more expensive pen, and I include the Pelikan M800 and Lamy 2000 in this.

Those two pens ARE nicer, but not ten times so. And sometimes the Safari/Vista is better on certain papers.

There is one huge proviso to this, however: I have found it necessary to spread the tines on all my Safaris to make them wet enough, and this is something I've had the confidence to do only quite recently. You need a loupe, you need to be bothered, and you need to be careful-ish. This is not something, in my view, that 99 per cent of non-FP addicts can or will do.

I like this one better than the Safari. It's got jut a little more weight in the cap, so when it's posted it doesn't fly away from me while I write.

Get ready to enjoy this pen for the rest of your life. Pass it on. In the year 2080,

a man will refer to an old LAMY Visto as "my grandfather's pen".

Auf freiem Grund mit freiem Volke stehn.
Zum Augenblicke dürft ich sagen:
Verweile doch, du bist so schön !
