Kaigelu 356... just got it today. excellent pen. haven't decide -between the Kaigelu and the Jinhao 601- which I like best.....

... the section of the Jinhao doesn't really match the pen and the metallic finish is not all that... but the nib is wetter and smoother than the K356 -I do like more the look of the latter.

I've been using a Hero 704 (thanks to the suggestions of members here) and I love it. Great pen for the price.

I don't know if I just got lucky, but the nib is very smooth, about on par with a Lamy Safari.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Just got in my Jinhao 159 and the Baour 388 in the mail today. Tomorrow I'm putting the 159 through the university paces, but I can't wait. It dwarfs all my other pens.

She Who Must Be Obeyed is using my Baoer 3040 with ESS's Registrar's Blue-black. It writes very smoothly but hasn't much in the way of flex.

I will be using my Jinhao 750; it's medium-fine nib lays down a nice line wiith Noodler's Bad Black Moccasin. Smooth, with a tad of flex.

And From the Land of the Rising Sun and the Chrysanthymum Throne:

She Who Must Be Obeyed has also borrowed my Pilot 78G broad nib -- which writes like an italic, something both of us were pleasantly surprised by. Unless SWMBO has re-filled it, it's currently loaded with Private Reserve's Cosmic Cobalt.

Some vendors sell the 78g's as fine, medium, and stub. They are all nice but some find the stub dry as the same feed is used for all three.

I've only inked it with Cosmic Cobalt, but with that it lays down a respectably wet line, very smooth. SWMBO is quite pleased with it. I'd be pleased if she were less so, then I'd be using it more often. :P

My first FP was a Chinese one, a Hero pen. I ordered some porcelain FP, as they look fine. They still are on the way.

Hero 9296

This is an accounting pen, that means it is a extremely fine nib.
Even I usually prefer medium nibs, this is perfect to write on cheap copy paper because it puts down very little inkpost-109661-0-55652800-1390345450_thumb.jpg

Baoer 517. Somehow this beauty has been sitting in the drawer, patiently waiting to be flushed and inked, for a couple of years. So I finally got around to it. What a revelation! Not only is the nib wonderfully smooth, as I've come to expect from Chinese pens, but it is a Western M. And the feed is flawless, delivering ink on the first stroke even after several days of sitting around, and then providing consistent flow. Fit and finish are beautiful, and unlike many heavy Chinese pens, the balance is good with the cap posted. This pen was an "oooh, shiny!" purchase when I bought it, but now it's a serious favorite, up there with the expensive ones.
