Actually purchased from these sellers

Some have individual pens, others 3 packs and still others 5 / 10 / 15 packs. The links above go to their respective eBay stores or to their list of items for sale, not directly to items, as item links end up dead when the listing expires. It will give you a head start on where to look for the Hero 007. BTW mine came from YesPen (no affiliation).

Thanks! I see a lot of attractive pens, not just the James Bond pen.

My latest ebook.   And not just for Halloween!

My other pen is a Montblanc.

Okay, you all have convinced me to take the plunge. I just ordered a Jinhao 159 and Jinhao X750, both in gloss black with silver-colored trim.

OMGoodness, people!!!! today i got the Jinhao 155 and just inked it up with Pelikan BB. it is beautiful!!! and the feel is great! its built feels as good as the Cross Townsend or the Century II -IMO, even better. the cap snaps so nice, it feels like a hydraulic system or something...

it writes a nice medium wet line (i'm using pelikan, which is kinda dry!!) and very smooth -but not buttery smooth. one still feels the paper. and IMO, that's good!!. the thing is, it's not a boring medium. it has character!!! i show pix of the writing later.

here's a pic from the vendor:

the cap makes it a bit top heavy when posted. but it fells right w/o it.

that's what i'll be using today!!

PS. this sounds more like a review...

Wow, that looks fantastic. I'm really tempted, but there are a few other Jinhaos that also look very nice and I can't decide. Does anyone have the Jinhao 185? If so, what do you think of it?

Using my recently arrived Dolce Vita Naranja inked with Diamine Prussian Blue. First time I heard about this pen was in this thread. What a great pen!

I think this thread is becoming addictive!

There have been a number of threads about other pens, but I'm surprised how many are in use. What are yours & how do you rate them?

Is it just my imagination, or are Chinese pens not often seen with fine nibs? The vast majority I see for sale online are medium or wider.

It used to be the case that they were all fine. The Chinese manufacturers presumably listened to the complaints about the ubiquitous fineness of their nibs. I have a few of the fine nibs in Hero pens, but all my Jin Hao and Regals are broad.

If you didn't already know, the German Knox nibs sold by xfountainpens.com fit a lot of different Jinhao: X750, X450 and 159. I just got a 'F' and 'EF' to go with my Jinhao X750 and they are smooth as butter. These nibs fit the Noodler AHAB too.

A number are quoted as medium. However many Chinese sellers use Chinese definitions of 'fine', 'medium' and 'broad', which - to western eyes - are one size finer than quoted. So, often a Chinese 'Fine' will be a Western 'XFine' etc. I know my Jinhao 1200 was sold as 'Broad', but the widest I'd call it is 'Medium'.

However, all is not entirely straightforward. All the Kaigelu nib sizes seem to be Western sizes. The 'M' nib on my 316's and 323 are US mediums (so a bit on the fine side of medium to my UK eyes). The K306 is a true fine.

Most Hero pens still seem to be F or XF.

Ho hum. I suggest you try them out.

Regards,

Richard

This pen is called the Dolce Vita Naranja,

<snip>

I was at a friends house a couple week back and he let me try one he had. I was really impressed. Smooth and light. Very easy to write with. I liked it.

What would you estimate the nib width to be?

Thanks! Since I've learned to use nib width charts to measure my pens, I get a much better Idea of width

than just med - fine or something. I just ordered one.

Just gave away the Hero 007 as well as my Jinhao 817, both to my nephew. He has a Mont Blanc (I don't know which model) but I figured I would try to turn him on to the wonders of Chinese made pens. Also gave him a sample vial full of Private Reserve Black Magic Blue.

Today I am using my Crocodile as well as the Hero 736. (both previously pictured)

Looks great!

I guess it is a chrome finish and not silver as it says in the ebay listing.

How's the chrome finish? Does it seem durable and thick and as if it will last, or does it give the impression that it will peel off?

The black version also looks gorgeous!
