What Chinese Pens Are You Using Today?

Like the looks of that pen. Different! While watching your video, it brought to mind the Retro 51 Dog Paws Pewter Fountain Pen, which I had given thought to purchasing. Is the Acme Deboss textured?

Helen,

your post always makes me want to buy YET ANOTHER PEN.

hahaha

where can i get this doggie paw pen :)

( wait, that BEAR PAW w deep claws )

/ the deboss pen is a bit of misnomer.

the black portions are indent, while the shiny parts are raised.

Hope that explains it.

You can purchase the Retro 51 Doggie Paws through Ebay and Amazon. The Retro 51 is not a Chinese pen, and the cost in US dollars is $69.97. It is made from pewter, and is acid etched. For those who love animals, this will be a keepsake fountain pen. Comes in Fine, Med & Broad nibs.

I broke down with Wing Sung 698 fever...here with a TWSBI 700R and a TWSBI 580 Turquoise for comparison.

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b251/scotkane/FullSizeRender_zpsheqierkn.jpg

I was surprised by how much I like my 698 (now 698's!). Looks and feels like a much more expensive pen.

Although I really like my TWSBI Eco, the one thing that I am not thrilled about is the cap design, kind of clunky. The 698 is much more streamlined and looks nicer in my opinion. The design of the finial is a nice design touch too.

The 698 seems fit nicely in between a TWSBI Eco and 580 in size.

I agree. I was already planning to install a Pilot nib in the 698 but I chose to write with it first and was pleasantly surprised.

I am using a Hero 266 fountain pen. The Hero 266 is great for work since it is cheap & it gets the job done. The Hero 266 is a great alternative to bringing a Jinhao, or a Vintage WingSung to work instead. I filled it with "Hero" 232 Blue Black Carbon ink & it works wonderfully. The Hero 266 is actually the only pen in my collection I am comfortable using Carbon ink in. My Parker 51 can take Superchrome & probably Carbon ink,

but why take the chance?

Don't worry, the 232 is not a carbon ink. Hero's carbon ink only come in Black ( in fact I've not seen any Carbon ink coming in any other color ) ..

Today I'm using a Duke 370. Yesterday I was using a Duke 370, The day before yesterday I was using a Duke 370. Tomorrow I will be using a Duke 370. The day after tomorrow I will be using a Duke 370. etc, etc, etc.

You could say I'm old and set in my ways. However, I would say I have found a pen that I like and see no reason to change it. :D

I AM old and set in my ways but that's a different matter. :)

Six Jinhao 992 demonstrators. Built cheap. QC is elsewhere. But they are nice writers - all six of them! No skipping or hard starts, smooth nibs, generous flow. Great performance for a $2 pen!

Practice, patience, perseverance

My 'transparent fountain pen' arrived in the mail today! It's marked Penton, without a model name. It writes so smoothly and I think I now know what 'springiness' means - a very light change in pressure changes the writing from EF to F, and it kind of feels a little bouncy, it's different from my other pens (which are all Jinhao/hero/Indian). And the transparent feed... :D

I found the Yiren 358 extra fine to have a bit of springiness and offering a bit of EF to F line variation (western standard). It handles reverse writing decently so you can also still manage a Japanese standard EF line./
